We had a great time...
For my habit of sleeping in late, I jumped out of bed surprisingly quickly today...the alarm clock snaps me out of dreamland: it's Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 9:30! In the middle of the pandemic, which is kind of getting on everyone's nerves (and yet, looking back, had its surreal appeal).
The morning sun shines through the window of my stuffy attic room in the former shared flat and warms my feet comfortably...it was warm in the flat in summer anyway lol. The reason for my "early" awakening was probably because of the lady I had arranged to meet the day before...and who I had only known for a few WhatsApp messages! I didn't know what to expect.... a snippy goat? An arrogant wannabe intellectual? Or even one of those boring people who have nothing to say? Safe was safe and after I returned yesterday's barbecue planks and got myself into a respectable condition, a few liters of Maharadja d'or were poured on top to give me a touch of mysticism and adventure! At least in the first 15 minutes after application....the next performance drops were not noticeable after about 1 hour...whether the remaining vapor is still enough for a good first impression on my date?! Who really knows!!!
However, that residual haze lasted long enough to irrevocably link this scent with this great day in my sparrow brain! The glistening sun, the almost two-hour drive, the first look into the brown doe eyes of my beloved, the great conversations, the visit to the old Roman baths, the view from the castle and sipping lemonade in the café...! The Maharadja was always subtly there!
The perfume is below average, both in terms of scent and longevity/sillage, let's not kid ourselves!
I wore it from time to time during the summer, but today I would only wear it for shopping! Nothing romantic happened with the lady I mentioned...we were to meet twice more before I hugged her goodbye one last time in the parking lot at the Klamm on 6 September...then the contact petered out and a few renewed attempts at contact on my part in the following months also failed...! Since then, the rest of Maharadja has served as a time capsule to the summer of 2020, the last time I had a crush. We had a great time... :)
