Don't we know each other?
This question arises again and again when reading the pyramid of many Roja fragrances.
Their components are so familiar and classic that they are often forced to repeat themselves.
And here, most creations follow those of Guerlain and Christian Dior, among others:
The well-known classic fragrance notes define the outer frame.
But once again it is clear that while the building blocks of the pyramid may be similar, what makes up the overall composition varies from fragrance to fragrance.
So it's always worth going on a journey of discovery.
This is also the case here with Rojas "Elixir" perfume.
The usual sparkling bergamot opening is followed by a fruity surprise:
A cocktail of ripe, slightly tart raspberry and creamy sweet velvety peach aromas is presented (this is what summer tastes like!) before the gate to the rich flower garden à la Roja Dove opens invitingly.
Of course, with this heart note of his creation, he also transports us to the sun-warmed blossom wedding of Grasse and the most beautiful of them can be found in the lovingly composed bouquet, which he presents in his usual elaborate packaging.
The intensely fragrant Grasse roses take center stage, despite their mostly delicate colors.
Delicate colors also continue: rich golden-faced jasmine umbels and cheerful lilies of the valley provide a veil of fragrance typical of white bloomers.
These are interspersed with the stronger aroma of English geranium (also known as rose geranium) and the velvety spice of many friendly smiling violets.
With the fruity entree, the pattern of a mature, sensual fragrance weave is already emerging, even before heliotrope and vanilla provide subtle, eroticizing warmth.
These cozy and warmly enveloping wafts of fragrance, powdery with iris, quickly condense into a cinnamon-spiced, cuddly musky blanket.
This once again classic fragrance composition is given a final hold by finely spiced sandalwood and cedarwood nuances, which bring it to a tasteful close.
It's true: nothing really new from Roja.
But "Elixir" perfume is as pompous and expressive as ever, if only because of the complex interplay of essences in this creation: the top, heart and base notes have been masterfully coordinated once again.
Today, this indulgent harmony is also a reason for me to apply a few spritzes on this frosty winter Sunday and dream myself away to warmer sunny climes, leaving the everyday gray behind me.
The well-known "Roja magic" is working on me once again!
I also take this opportunity to think of Azura; she bottled so many of her Roja fragrances for me so that I could get to know them: Thank you so much for that!
