Logbook of the Nostromo, 20.03.2022
Passed Mars.
Follow the extraterrestrial signal that seems to come from one of the two Mars moons Phobos and Deimos.
"Fear" and "terror," the names of the moons instill respect in the crew.

On Deimos a cathedral-like cave with an earth-like atmosphere was discovered.
The signal seems to be coming from here.
An assault squad is determined to get to the bottom of the signal. The helmets are removed by order of the captain inside, against the protest of the first officer.
An intensely smoky, herbaceous smell immediately penetrates us.
It's hard to breathe.

Smoke stands above the ground, sharp and peppery like dry ice mist, through which incense and fire vapor of a ritual sacrificial fire seem to draw.
The crew's getting restless.
There seems to be something animal about it.
Something dark, unnameable lives here, one can physically feel the vibrating radiation that emanates from it.

The walls are covered with a dark, dense weave of herbaceous plants that secrete tough, resinous secretions in emerald green tones. If you rub it between your fingers, it is surprisingly not sticky, rather dry and of almost dusty consistency.
It smells of dried herbs, intense, licorice-like, balsamic and salty.
The smell mixes with the tart smell of small, dried berry-like fruits lying all over the ground.

We get to the center of the cave, the signal gets stronger.
A dark, vibrating glow seems to liquefy the air.
We found the source of the signal.
Black vials containing a dark bluish pathogen are arranged into a group on a tableau of matt black rock.

This is the center.

Maggi? No way!
Maggi? Sure, it was my first thought, too. If you perfume yourself with 20 Mars 2022 roundwood, you might ask yourself whether you've got yourself full of Maggi. That gave me an idea...

A few sprays of 20 Mars 2022 on my left wrist, a few drops of liquid - Maggi on the right. So...?? But now the monkey's gonna fuckin' kill me!
20 Mars 2022 is light years odourless from Maggi - liquid wort removed! And this over the entire course of the fragrance. The dominating lovage (also called Maggia herb, although not contained in Maggi), pepper, strawberry and vanilla later give the fragrance an earthy, Gourmand Cham. Frankincense and Zibet, on the other hand, provide a certain mysticism, which finally justifies the "galactic" name.

For the sake of fairness I would like to mention that Maggi should score points purely in terms of taste (I didn't taste the roundwood though :-))). Maggi is also clearly ahead in endurance and silage. Once this has penetrated the skin, neither brush nor soap can help. In the world of perfume, however, 20 Mars 2022 is a block of power that is looking for its equal.

Roundwood 20 Mars 2022 will not move into my perfume shelf. I just can't think of a fitting opportunity to wear it. And as a kitchen - room scent it is too bad, especially as it would sink when cooking soup. When my bottling is used up, however, I will order a new one. Sometimes you just get appetite.

Ps: Thanks to Meggi for fixing it!

The scent of nothingness
Pepper.
Much, much pepper and smoke must be penetrated until the first pale glow of Mars is in sight.
And even though the barely perceptible glow in the blackest darkness of cold space seems inviting and almost redeeming; the darkness is so inhaling and strong that every light is swallowed by it.
What remains is blackness.
And nothing.
It's like you're all alone and there's nothing else.
Just nothing.
Something undetectable, invisible.
Also not perceptible or audible.
Nothing flat.
Not like a black spot or a hole.
Also not as if you close your eyes or are in a completely darkened room.
Simply nothing.
Just yourself and the nothingness.

What sounds bleak and at first also strange and frightening (and at first also smells), however, gradually gains in attraction and fascination. Paradoxically, the image of nothing becomes more tangible. And the fear of being swallowed by it, the fear that nothing else is there, changes into a pleasant feeling of being with oneself. Full and utterly attentive and there. Everything else for a few seconds unimportant. Far away. Black.

After so much metaphor, a little clearer again:
a very, very dark scent.
Also a demanding fragrance.
(For me) a first deterrent and at the same time fascinating scent.

Mars begins with a dense cloud of pepper, (Christmas) smoke and bitter-looking flowers In the (later) course the pepper front calms down increasingly and a good portion of incense and bitter lavender are added on top. And carburized hay with well dosed, yet clearly perceptible animalism. Slightly stallig-fäkal but not comparable with the note from Hyrax or Stercus. This one's too cryptic for that. Somewhat more superficial is the "pissy" Zibet to perceive. However, also here very well intercepted by resin, wood and much, much incense.
Any emerging sweetness remains so well hidden throughout the entire process that it only flashes for a short time.
Although it does not appear unpleasant, depressive or even gothic, Mars is a completely smoky, cold and very gloomy scent.
It is difficult to describe the scent beyond such a dissolution.
It moves from not definable to differentiated.
On the one hand a true incense bomb, on the other hand absolutely not overwhelming and extremely multifaceted.
Despite the dense smoke mantle I perceive almost every nuance of the fragrance pyramid sometimes more, sometimes less during the course of a day.

The fragrance is certainly a (deliberately) extreme fragrance that finds both proponents and opponents. I think it's great composed and real art.
Who is however on the search for a rather "life-affirming" smell, this one/those will probably deter or even disturb here...

By the way, I, too - especially at the beginning and after the first big pepper-smoking thunderstorm - can notice a noteworthy similarity to Zoologists "Squid". However, Squid gradually releases through salty ink and dark sweet amber. Mars doesn't give salvation. It is and remains deep black

Hello Darkness my old Friend
The Rundholz brand has only been known to me for a few years. Actually a fashion brand of the designers Lenka and Carsten Rundholz, perfumes have also been launched for a few years. The nose behind the fragrances is Art Landi. In advance a euphoric chapeau! The fragrances that Mr. Landi creates for Rundholz are consistently strong in character, partly idiosyncratic and have unique selling points. Thus they fit Lenka's and Carsten's fashion style.

The fragrances are not necessarily simple. They are not unruly, I feel them even as quite accessible, but some complexity opens up only gradually. So also 20Mars2022. One look at the fragrance notes made me frown. Saffron, cinnamon, strawberry, a lot of floral, with the rose I don't like. Only the base reads better, if it weren't for the darn tonka bean and its sister vanilla. That can become yes what...

And how that becomes what! First impression: pepper. Pepper. PEPPER! It quickly joins woody, soft incense. If you stop here to get to know the scent, you're forgiven. But the further journey is worth it. As the tests continue, the complexity of 20Mars2022 gradually reveals itself. The ingredients I read with misgivings are so artfully woven into the composition that they don't stand out disruptively, but complement each other harmoniously. Animal resin, a slightly oriental spice, earthy, tart-dry wood - Everything underpins the overall impression without distorting it.

What remains as an overall impression?
20Mars2022 is a sinister, serious, distancing fragrance. At the same time with a subtle softness and certain animalic promise. A deep, infinite black, with a hint that somewhere there is a small, delicate flame glowing in the darkness. Misanthropic black metal, world-weariness-soaked dark wave, and a touch of New Romantic. Great!
I hope that soon the bars and clubs will open again to be able to perform this olfactory condensed black properly. But also in small circles, in the spare time, to a fine meal or in the circle of friends 20Mars2022 can be worn wonderfully. Preferably in winter, the cold, dead season ;-)
