I guess sometimes it's just not meant to be. When I first read the reviews of this brand's fragrances by the very esteemed colleague Ergoproxy, I was delighted. They sounded great, enchanting and special. And this one, even in terms of notes, seemed to fit quite well into the Polly Beute scheme. Moreover, the brand as such appealed to me, because as an Ibiza lover, Santa Eularia is well known to me. A very pretty, not too big town with a fine beach promenade, where you can shop and eat almost everywhere. That just had to fit. I thought. I hoped.

Ergoproxy characterized the perfumes (Vesper and Obscuro) as a very successful mix of mainstream and niche. I can so sign, but for my nose plays both Obscuro and Vesper, which I would have liked so much, the for me unfortunately less beloved side of the common mainstream perfumery.

I really like both fragrances in the first few minutes. Especially Vesper. It hints at a combination of notes that makes me curious and keeps sniffing. A touch of gourmand sweetness, fine myrrh, noble woody notes and a bit of rugged smokiness come together here. It's surprising and very nice at the same time. I would have definitely guessed frankincense here, however, this note can also come from the combination of myrrh with labdanum or of course the cistus. Yes, I too am at Evening Prayer, even if a few desserts are served here in addition to the hosts.

Unfortunately, however, this pleasure does not last for very long. After about ten minutes, I think "what smells so La Vie est Belle?" Well, what can I say. Exactly the same thing happens as with Obscuro, which, however, didn't fall into my prey scheme anyway due to saffron and leather. But here I'm a bit saddened by the fact that a maltol note, which is clear to my nose, creeps to the front of the sweetness. Underneath, I'm now sniffing more woodiness and the labdanum is also now making its oddball presence known. On the surface, however, wins perpetually this Fruity-Floral-Stil, at least I smell it out.

The fragrance is certainly not wrong, because such a combination I have not been allowed to sniff so far. Here find generally pleasing chords from the top sellers of the mainstream area with something more daring, more experimental fragrance combinations, which are more typical for the niche, together. I'm sure these fragrances will go down very well with many who want to try something new, more special. However, mine is rather not.

Many thanks to Ergoproxy for letting me get to know the fragrances of this brand.

Awful stuff, like synthetic, sweet caramel and a touch of myrrh. The other notes don’t show up. Note to self: Avoid
