All right, who spilled lemon juice on the fresh sheets?
Good evening, snoopers. Today I am writing about Laine de Verre by Serge Lutens, which means "glass wool". And you know what? I have absolutely no idea how glass wool should smell. But no matter, I can do what I always do: I sniff the scent here and try to describe as exactly as possible how it smells to me.

And you do exactly what you always do. Read my commentary, and then, cruelly, pick on me afterwards... why??? How mean!!! D
I'm just trying to entertain you! How'd you like it if I left here for good, huh??

Hey hey, oh man, I'm bitchy again. That's because the weather is getting hotter again,... and something tells me that there will be another disgusting heat wave in a week... which makes me in a bad mood because I don't like temperatures above 30 degrees. But at least there are such fresh and loosely smelling scents as this Serge Lutens scent, which despite its (or just because of that?) simplicity hasn't even become so bad!

The fragrance:
The fragrance starts like freshly washed laundry with a high citric content. So it is quite fresh and smells of fresh lemons next to general, cleanly soft, but somehow also cool notes. I notice the aldehydes only afterwards, but rather less intense than indicated here on Parfumo. Just as little (or actually even much less) do I perceive the musk, from which I can only see a small sweetness of it.
A little later the aldehydes become weaker, but now the musk becomes much more intense, never really strong, but much better smellable. And that was it, because the scent stays for quite a while.
After many, many hours there is hardly anything left of the fragrance. One only smells the rudimentary smell of freshly washed, but everything else like musk is long gone.

The Sillage and the shelf life:
The Sillage was below average. It's not extremely weak, but you should be nearby to smell the scent a little. Even later, however, it becomes a little body-hugging. My shelf life was about five to six hours before there was hardly anything left of the scent on my skin.

The bottle:
The bottle is high, thin and clear. On the front you can see a large, narrow label with the name of the fragrance, whereby the first letters of the terms "Laine" and "Verre" were capitalized once again. The lid is black-grey and round. The bottle looks simple, but is nice to look at.

Soo... so the scent's not as bad as it's been rated here. Of course I have to say that in my opinion the fragrance is not a stroke of genius or would otherwise stand out because it is so simple, but it smells really nice and should appeal especially to the fans who like clean, pure fragrances.

Fragrances that smell of fresh linen or bed linen washed with a fresh spring softener. The kind of laundry that fills the cupboard with its nice scent, which then flows towards you beautifully when you open the cupboard.

I think the fragrance has a lot in common with Clean's fragrances like Fresh Laundry, Cool Cotton, Air and similar fragrances from it, with its clean notes and simplicity. It is fresh and loose, with which it has become a beautiful spring and summer scent so for the day that one could wear both in leisure time and at work. For going out he is a little too unspectacular as well as a little too weak.

Well then, anyone who likes cleanliness and tidiness could try this fragrance. All the others,... are more like dirty finches or something :DD

That's it again, have a nice evening :)

Stay weird
So monsieur Lutens keeps exploring the metallic notes after his Vierge de Fer. This time instead of being a Palais Royal exclusive, he expanded his Eaux line with this really original, unorganic creature. But such a strange accord really leaves an impression in one, and this is not the first time i smelled it.

Yes, this ultra-high pitched aldehydes plus the ultra-clean musk recall the much maligned L´Orchidée Terrible by Imaginary Authors (minus the sour vanilla orchid, that gives a definitely warmer direction to the fragance) and i have only used it on my skin once (now twice since im comparing them) Being the Orchidée more passive-aggressive-aggressive than the Laine that is only passive-aggressive.

So, Laine de Verre. Do i like it? Yes. It is important to mention this because concepts like synthetic, fabric softener (think of A-Men Pure Shot)and metallic can sound negative for some people for some reason. To this list, include a minty feeling. I frankly like it, a great gym fragance. Problem is, theres always one, right? that this strange, aldehydic plus laundromat opening is very fleeting on the skin (not on paper) which is an issue considering the price. Then it turns into a comfy, soft lemony/woody fragance with a considerably less futuristic white musk (as white as it gets, mind you) and traces of the before firework-like aldehydes.

Wont make it to my shortlist, but i wouldn´t mind to have it as a gift, and i´m sure i would use it often.

Clear complexity
I find this light eau a beautiful, interesting, original and modern interpretation of aldehydes. The opening is fresh, luminous and cool, combining a blue effect of aldehydes with lemon citrus smell. I guess this first moments is what some people perceive as similar to cleaning products while I find it challenging and new.

After this first stage the scent slowly develops to a fresh close to skin slightly sweet musk drydown with a distant wet wood effect. It is indeed a close to skin eau de cologne, so close that it seems to almost completely disappear though it doesn't. In my skin lasts for around five hours and seems to revive a bit even later when my body warms up under the sun.

I would love to have it for summertime and can easily imagine myself feeling perfectly comfortable wearing it and a white cotton or linen shirt.

Elegant and apparently simple, I love its clear and minimalistic character.
