You are a real tamer...
a man once said to me who seemed to be bothered by the fact that I reprimanded Uwe and Bernd for walking along the street in a civilized manner. He didn't say it in a friendly or respectful way, like another gentleman who smiled as he watched the two dogs peacefully sharing a portion of vanilla ice cream with cream at the ice cream parlor, but condescendingly and reproachfully.

In fact, this encounter made me buy the fragrance blind. Of course, I also like frangipani, ylang-ylang and almond. So I thought I would like the fragrance.

But it actually suits this encounter perfectly. Not that it's bad, but in all its beauty it has something oppressive about it. I smell a beautiful woman. I think she's a Maori, an original Polynesian beauty. Beautiful, irrepressible, original, indomitable. She has groomed herself with tiare oil and a flower in her full, black hair. She should be spending the day in the sun, in the sand by the sea, doing her daily work. But something is wrong. Something is dark and oppressive. I can almost see the iron cage in the dark cellar in which she is trapped and it is almost unbearable for me to witness this spectacle. The memory of this gentleman comes unpleasantly to my mind. Unfortunately, I have often had to experience strange men talking in this tone to women and girls. The scent makes me think.

This is a very clean shower gel fragrance. It also reminds me a bit of the Monoi range from Yves Rocher which I used a lot in the 90s. The smell of powder is also there but not dry or dusty. I smell ylang and frangipani, sometimes very far away like in a flower store with water and greenery. If there are almonds, then fresh, juicy, green ones and not sweet, roasted ones.

Unisex? - Yes! It is a clear clean fragrance that can also be worn by men. But it smells more like a women's shower than a men's changing room in an outdoor pool in the 90s. I find it unsweet and not really gourmand. I find the durability and sillage to be mediocre, not close to the skin and not room-filling, after 6 hours the spook is as good as over.

Dewy, diaphanous unripe banana after a tropical rainstorm
I find the reviews of this one puzzling. I don’t understand the visceral disgust reaction some are having. I can only assume people have bad associations with frangipani (maybe it’s a common scent in toilet fresheners in some parts of the world?), because there is no way this fragrance is disgusting on its own merits.

Among positive reviews, there are many references to this smelling like bubblegum or hard candy, which made me expect something quite synthetic, heavy and sugary, but in reality LDE is not remotely confectionary-like, and doesn’t smell like anything you should be putting in your mouth.

I also find it puzzling that some reviewers are identifying jasmine, gardenia or hyacinth in this, but I suppose those flowers have some of the same constituents as frangipani, so maybe people unfamiliar with frangipani are misidentifying the main floral note. To me, it's 100% frangipani, I would never mistake it for anything else. There IS a bright floral aspect that reminds me of SL’s Fleurs d’Oranger, though, despite not officially sharing any notes with that fragrance.

On paper, La Dompteuse Encagee is a frangipani soliflore, with a touch of something powdery and lactonic in the drydown. On my skin, the frangipani projects the most, but closer to the skin it’s very green, almost like you’ve crushed the stem of a plant near the base of the flower. It reminds me strongly of real, live, unripe bananas. Don't be mislead by the "sweet" description - it's only sweet in that bitter astringent way that an unripe banana is, and it's also a bit waxy or oily. I think the almond is being used to create that bitter waxy impression - it's not marzipan or roasted almonds, but a bitter almond (for which my main reference is those stink bugs that produce cyanide-containing compounds, lol! But don't worry, the usage here is very, very minimal and well blended.)

There's nothing gourmand about this at all, it's not an edible scent. It's the smell of unripe fruits and nuts on the tree, not fit for eating yet, green, wild, fresh and covered in raindrops in the aftermath of a tropical storm.

This is an incredibly refreshing scent. Sheer and floaty, clean and soapy, like you just got out of the shower. The late drydown is almost ozonic on me. Absolutely beautiful for hot weather (the somewhat weak performance makes it not suffocating). I feel like this is the daytime/casual counterpart to Fleurs d’Oranger. Both are height-of-summer scents to me, but LDE is more innocent and simple while Fleurs d’Oranger is intoxicating and sensuous.

Toilet scent, no way !!
Okay, you starting to know me, i don't do usually in lace.
I mean than i always say what i think.
I really like the scents of good old Serge...
La Vierge de Fer, La fille de Berlin, Dent de Lait, Chergui, etc...
But here...
For some time now i have been disappointed with the "new products" of certain big brands that i have been able to test.
To get straight to the point, La Dompteuse Encagée put my nostrils "in a cage" with double turns.
If you like yellow flowers with toilet scents, this fragrance will be made for you.
Because yes, this perfume smells of toilet deodorant mixed with Arpic.
In opening, we are 100% on the yellow flower galore, and it's pretty strong.
Described however as a "tropical lactonic sweet citrus", i do not detect any of this.
At the limit a small base of frangipani, but then well at the bottom...
On the other hand, on all floors, the yellow flower do you want some here !!!!
An almost sickening smell that lasts, because in terms of longevity, it seems to last well...
By dint of feeling my forearm, i feel this feeling of disgust and my back throat is starting to sting...
Heave are not far away...
In short, not at all my kind of perfume.
If you want to get an idea of this Dompteuse Encagée, imagine the perimeter of this immaculate white toilet seat...
Think of that greenish Harpic and that deodorant hanging on the seat...
In short, you will understand, it makes you hate yellow flowers for a very long time.
On the other hand, if you like, it is because you are not far from having crappy tastes...
My rating: 2/10 (And that's nice)
