My Cup of Coffee
SM Café - Marquis de Sade opens his own coffee shop. Somehow a funny and also exciting idea, which Prin pursued here. Actually, the fragrance should have been launched with Les Mauvais Garcons and Sangre Dulce. But Prin was looking for a vintage leather note that would produce exactly the image he wanted. It is this passion for details, which makes Prin's fragrances so special for me. So SM Café was launched about a month later. And the waiting was more than worth it.
SM Café burst right from the start with its main theme: coffee. It is a deep black and aromatic vibe. At the same time, the patchouli, as the second important protagonist, contributes to a slightly earthy note. This, mixed with the coffee, gives the impression of moist coffee grounds. The third fragrance component is the already mentioned vintage leather note. This one enters the stage slightly boozy (Benzoe) and with some fruitiness (cherry & rose). The whole time, subliminal, a rather pleasantly playful theme resonates, which is close to hay and skin notes.
The leather is warm and soft. I rather see dark brown, high leather armchairs in the café, tanned by the many guests sitting in them, than a (SM) whip. And it complements the fragrance in an absolutely harmonious and skilful way. So the long search for the right leather note was more than worth it.
Exactly this twist of skin and leather notes sets SM-Café apart from a pure coffee scent.
In the course of hours, discreet chords of tobacco and also some wood are added. But the fragrance stands by its main theme and heart of patchouli, amber and coffee. After more than 8 hours my visit ends in the Café of the Marquis, which is actually nice guy.
And makes a hell of a good coffee. :)
The fragrance is definitely highly recommended for fans of Drakkar Noir and Bond No. 9 - New Harlem. But also for anyone who is looking for a coffee scent with a certain twist.
PS: Prin was so nice to sent the scent before his vacation, so I got the chance to review and introduce it to the community. Thank you, dear friend!
