Oud fragrance from the Orient - without Orient, and without oud
After I had extensively tested and even bought three of the four Malakis, it was now time to test the last of the collection - Oud. With its name and oriental background of the brand, it was actually pretty clear to me, it must be an absolute oud firecracker. Maybe a little quieter than so really loud Hindi or Cambodian oud, but still clearly perceptible as oud with possibly some spice or other elements that round out the composition. That these expectations so not at all fulfilled, should turn out later.
Before I tested the fragrance more extensively, I already got all Malakis in front of the very first test in the store and could test them. After a short test was actually immediately clear that especially because of the price (about 30 euros), the amount of oil (25ml) and the impressive composition with a wonderful oriental touch of the Mukhallat and Rose Malaki must be packed immediately. Musk and Oud I had no longer so much in mind and was thus less interested in them. At the end of my Dubai stay, the Musk was then also packed, as I saw it as a good gift. Thus, only the Oud was missing, which I had to test on one of my following trips.
Said and done. Expectations completely past the fragrance. Started with dry green wood, it is complemented with very light saffron and pepper. Musk is also only very slightly perceptible here, and the oud in the name I do not smell here at all, instead the fragrance reminds me much more of cedar or really incredibly friendly, dry and gentle oud - in any case not to which one usually knows from the Orient. I also don't really perceive a scent progression, instead it's very linear. Wood through and through, noticeable from beginning to end, and since the other notes are largely in the background anyway, it almost gives the impression that they don't really exist, except for the pepper, which shines through now and then. The fragrance reminds me totally of ILK - Infatuated, also in my collection. The immediately still came to mind when testing.
A perfectly acceptable fragrance, but for me unfortunately the worst and most boring of the series. It lacks the oriental something, which I can smell out much more with the other Malakis. This fragrance smells almost European. Price is still top and the amount you get with the Malakis is also considerable. OVP is nice, bottle as well, durability i.O., Sillage, as usual with Attaren, not so strong.
Even if the fragrance can not quite meet my taste, it is by no means bad. I recommend at a Swiss Arabian visit simply times all durchzutesten and then decide which is the most beautiful. Why this one carries oud in the name is unclear to me, because so really oudig this is not - it is enough if you take the Dehn el Oud Shaheen or Cambodi from the same house for comparison.
