Unsuspectingly
All along testing MIRIAM I thought that I have already found an incense fragrance, which does not goes berserk on my skin and emits suffocating odor like cigarette smoke. I was glad, proud and gave to MIRIAM a big hug in my mind.

And I read the list of notes.

OK, no incense there. So this is a quite complex fragrance, with a big bunch of flowers, woods, aroma of forests, a bit fruity (most probably lavendel and citruses give the freshness). Comforting earthy scent, but specifically refreshener. This self-contradiction made me enthusiast to wear it again and again. Later on MIRIAM gets sweeter, a bit honeyed, but never suppressive.

I would typify it as a not solemn or unwordly incense - but we know, that it does not contain incense. MIRIAM is not a fragrance for seduction, nor negotiation. I would appreciate it on men as well - but basically it is a feminine opus.

Gentle Elegance
If you like flowery aldehyde scents in the vein of Chanel No. 5 which opened up this area as a milestone, then you may appreciate "Miriam". Not only does this scent feel like vintage, the advertising connected with it reinforces the idea. "Miriam" is the first of many scents to be created in connection with a series of TV dramas and their main characters' lives, entitled "Tableau de Parfums". The scent is packaged with a booklet and a DVD. I find this advertising handle rather cumbersome but chose to disregard it and just enjoy the scent.

And an enjoyable scent it is, a well-made perfume, a gem. In the outset the nose perceives a rather bold whiff of soapy notes, but there is more thickness coming, leading into a gentle parade of flowers, with hints of lightweight Violet, Rose, Ylang-Ylang and mainly powdery notes which deepen and stream along for hours. The soft Vanilla dry down towards Sandalwood and Tonkabean is particularly friendly to my skin.

This beautiful perfume is reminiscent to those in the Great French Tradition, which are rarely made anymore today. Discreet with just the slightest touch of provocation ... maybe ... but that final vanilla dry down which is still present the next morning is charming and rather innocent.

Soap, powder and glamour ... vintage elegance in a bottle.
