fallen out of time
How self-confident do you have to be to simply call your creation "Création"?
After a good week of personal and very intensive acquaintance, I can say:
Ted Lapidus can rightly call his fragrance composition simply "Création"; that's all it takes!
Until now I knew neither this designer nor his fragrances, but while browsing through the flacon departures of a very dear perfumista, I saw a flacon that appealed to me very much.
And the fragrance pyramid also appealed to my senses, as it reveals a radiant and classic chypre fragrance at its finest.
And it doesn't promise too much: that's exactly how it should be, a lively and opulent fragrance composition from the mid-eighties! Even though I didn't know back then which family the beloved beauties of that time belonged to, I know today: Chypre already won my heart and my senses back then!
So "Création" also begins with the expected stroll through a citrus-fresh Hesperides garden, into which ripe, sweet fruits beckon; I am particularly surprised by the presence of mango and passion fruit: I would not have expected these in a composition of this era.
Galbanum lends this pleasantly resinous smoky note, which now weaves a fine web of misty spirals over the abundant and familiar white flowers.
The other floral beauties also find their place beneath this net, as carnations, daffodils and even the proud ladies rose are a natural part of this well-arranged blooming heart of fragrance.
Ylang-ylang entwines this overall bouquet with its lovely tendrils of fragrant blossoms.
Of course, the classic chypre base should not be missing, with oakmoss and sandalwood harmoniously dominating, but the other fragrance notes also play their traditional roles:
This composition would not be complete without them.
Even the familiar cuddly-soft musk-amber-vanilla blanket is not missing here.
"Nothing new!" some of you may be thinking.
No, actually nothing new, but Ted Lapidus' "Création" is also very different! We read the fragrance notes in the pyramid and think: You know that one! Yes, we know the listed fragrance notes, but the secret of their dosage, their almost magical interweaving, remains unknown to us!
This is the only way we can keep discovering and learning to love new creations, even though we think we already know what to expect!
"Création" is a wonderful new discovery that stylishly expands my personal fragrance world. Especially now, at the beginning of the darker season, this fragrant glow that has almost fallen out of time is a real treat and touching the bottle is a particularly sensual pleasure!
