Purple Silk Plissée
In the beginning there is a strong pushing of mainly the freesia, the bergamot stretches her elbows, but the freesia is stronger. It is also the reason why I avoid fragrances with her in an all too high concentration, i.e. when she first appears in the heart or even base note. Then she actually remains too engaging for me, because nothing more can hold a candle to her. If she starts with others, then she still appears perceptible to me in the course of time, but more pleasant. This is the case here. She opens the choral song, but then gives it to other voices, while her own skilfully covers the background of the song. The green of her stem and the "flower holder" waft discreetly with it, like a quiet piano that only whispers the piece. In this fragrance the freesia carries a beautiful purple for my perception. I don't perceive it as pink as others. In addition there is the violet note, which steers my colour perception even more away from the Rosaton. The other aromas with their spots of colour cannot change this for me either. Lila is how it begins for me and Lila is how the song ends for me. In general, the fragrance is floral fresh, slightly smoky and strangely cool at the same time. I have already noticed this warm coolness in the TL Silk Way and believe I can sniff it here as well. Some kind of signature in scent to scent. It is a contradictory perception between cuddly, attracting and slightly rejecting, stalling. TL Pour Elle also sounds the same. And yet one feels well taken care of, preserved and soothed with all of them. And always well "dressed", stylish, feminine and self-confident. Over time, musk is added, a little patchouli I like to guess and a very noble and unsweet vanilla, which together give the fragrance the "Woman". I don't notice the other notes and I don't miss them either. This TL is perfect in itself, the intention in the naming is fulfilled and it captivates with a mature, slightly classic or breathy class note with a decent sillage and the usual firm TL durability. A fragrance for the whole year, definitely one for every situation and even more one to feel well-groomed and feminine. The bottle is symbolically designed and its foot reflects my perception of the delicate fabric.
Simply a fragrance like a dress made of purple silk plissée...

Middle of the Road
This is another that came out under Jacques Konckier's stewardship after he took the line over from Ted Lapidus. It's a fragrance I don't exactly love or hate. But for the want of Amber, it would be a classic oriental. It doesn't smell like one, though. I think Cyclamen must be contributing the edgy greenish top note because to me freesia doesn't have such an edge and bergamot certainly doesn't. During the drydown I get the jasmine and orange blossom only faintly, but something continues to tickle at my nose. The base is mild, but I do begin to wonder if it's the Patchouli causing the sharpness, however that's a fragrance I like, so I don't think so. The cyclamen does die down eventually and what's left is agreeable enough, but not so compelling I'd replace this bottle.
