Interesting Facts
Ted Lapidus, born in 1929, inherited a love of fabrics and designs from his Russian father, who ran his tailoring studio. Since his family emigrated to France, he held French citizenship throughout his life and pursued his fashion education with Christian Dior in Paris, where he eventually founded his label in 1951.

For a few years, Lapidus distributed his creations through stores and fashion houses, before the first boutiques of the label "Lapidus" appeared in 1958. The unique pieces available there were handmade and inclusive of luxurious materials, thus belonged to the haute couture of that time. Wearable prêt-à-porter fashion was also available in-stores, but it was sold exclusively for other labels.

The original creations from the house of "Ted Lapidus" were always highly praised, and the fashion shows were sought-after events by critics, colleagues, and the press. Ted Lapidus also became a member of the Parisian haute couture trade association "Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne".

A key feature of Ted Lapidus' fashion was the combination of perfectly tailored clothing with imaginative and functional details. The designs are characterized by epaulets, patch pockets, belts, etc.

Celebrities like Brigitte Bardot and John Lennon appreciated this style very much.

Before the label "Ted Lapidus" was transferred to the "Jacques Bogart Group" in 1995, a collaboration with "L'Oréal" on exclusive women's and men's fragrances took place in 1970.
