The enchanted flower
Everything is a country somewhere, even in the strange silky mist. All in thought the wanderer passed through the dry dust, the spicy smoke, the hazy haze that fogged the air like a mirror above the earth that had become liquor. And then there was the knotty tree, its skin of leather and fingers of clay, breathing myrrh and marzipan into the white swirling billows. On one of the branches sat a cranky witch, blissfully humming and muttering strangely, hissing spells, holding her hands in the winds, from which she dispatched tiny clouds. Hocus pocus pink lotus. Poof.
What are you doing?" exclaimed the wanderer in amazement. What do you think you are doing? breathed the witch, I smell! It smells like roses! murmured the little traveller. The witch twirled her beard angrily. You've got the tree up your nose! You've had too much of the earth liquor! I wanted to witch the lotus! Let sweet grass grow over it!
Then the tree spread a thin blanket over the sweet earth, and through the leather gleamed faintly the cool petrol of a meadow. There hung the shoulders of the traveller. Don't you like roses?
¡@!*
Teone Reinthal uses only botanical ingredients for her fragrances, which are thus subject to seasonal and local variations; harvest conditions, freshness levels, and the method of distillation can also produce different results, making each batch unique.
In "Treewitch", the combination of liqueur-like patchouli, sweet myrrh, the lotus as well as the loamy-leathery oud with the frankincense suggests to me a leathery rose peeking out from under a silky veil of frankincense and vetiver. As it progresses, patchouli and vetiver become more dominant. The latter, however, loses much of its smoky, pungent power in this combination. The enchanted flower works a good eight hours and will certainly be able to enchant many walkers - I, however, just do not like roses ;-)
