The decline of freedom?
Hello and have a nice evening!
Today I come to Oceanus from The Body Shop. Which sounds like Oceania. Actually a beautiful, romantic name for a world full of seas, beaches, whipped coconuts with colorful straws and umbrellas inside etc... :)
In fact, it is even the name for the Pacific Islands, which extend north and east of Australia.

However, the name (Oceania) also reminds very much of the gloomy vision of George Orwell, who had divided the world into three superpowers with his work "1984", namely in Eurasia, East Asia and Oceania, in which people live totally controlled by the state without freedoms and even thought crimes, crimes of which one thought of but did not carry them out, are punished very severely. And the frightening thing is that in reality people still have this form of governance in some parts of the world, like in North Korea for example...
In addition, there is today's irrepressible collection of data from all kinds of devices, which is also reminiscent of total surveillance, but of course everything runs under the pretext of being able to display personalized advertisements for us. Even smart refrigerators nowadays know our eating habits and could theoretically order food on their own that we "might like"... but if my refrigerator should order coriander or celery, then it flies out the window, but that's so amazing! D
Oh yes, fragrances are also forbidden in most dystopian utopias, ... I know I know a world without fragrances is certainly the horror, not true?

So, talk enough, let's go back to the more beautiful things that could be associated with terms like Oceania! Sea, swimming, bikinis or something... :D

The fragrance:
The fragrance begins with a load of flowers. Yes, it smells very flowery, at the beginning still briefly stuffy, then however more watery. By watery I don't mean that the scent is watered down, but that it smells like the scented water in flower shops, where there are many flowers and the water gets such a nice, floral scent. Due to my botanical ignorance I can't say exactly if the beautiful top note smells like water lilies, but then I smell at least something I know, the roses, which become a little more intense with time. Then there are sweet lilies of the valley in it and that's it for me, because I can't really identify the rest of the flowery scents.
But it also has a creamy note and it smells as if camomile is in it, at least there is a certain similarity. With time the fragrance becomes a little more intense and in the background unfortunately a little more stuffy, which is no wonder with so many flowers.
A little later the scent (for me personally) gets more stuffy, which I don't like so much anymore. Musk gives the fragrance a nice sweetness, but the flowers suffocate me a little too much. And so it remains unfortunately also in the later basis, so that the stuffy smells unfortunately do not disappear any more. And it's a pity that the scent didn't remind me of the sea at all.

The Sillage and the shelf life:
The Sillage's okay. The fragrance starts off weakly, but gains strength over time and has a good charisma for a while, so that it could at least be perceived quite well at close range. The shelf life is only moderate to weak and therefore lasts about four to five hours.

The bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical with a slightly sloping top towards the neck. It's light blue, which is very much in keeping with the name of the fragrance. The lid is whitish transparent. All in all very very simple, as there is no label either, so the name of the fragrance was simply printed on it. Well, that's... nice, but there are much better flacons.

So,... apart from my somewhat gloomy introduction, I don't find the scent here dark or horrible, but don't consider it to be anything special and even rather boring. Actually I had thought that with Oceanus I would smell a scent, which reminds me of the sea as well, by name, you know, ocean... with which one would automatically associate something with the sea and expect, for example, salty notes and so on. So either something fresh for warm days, or just aquatic or maritime. Well, none of that was unfortunately true. I don't think the fragrance is fresh at all, because it suffocated me a bit as already described, although the beginning was still quite nice.

Maybe I only feel it this way, because I don't like these stuffy, flowery notes in general and the scent may still have something aquatic about it, which I can't see, but I would recommend it for a test, because I see in the statements that many people seem to like it quite well, so it wouldn't hurt to try it after all...

For me, the scent is just a spring scent, because it could be too overwhelming in summer. I'd even consider it for use in the fall! So as a daily fragrance or for leisure time.

So, you have to decide for yourself whether you want to try this fragrance or not, but for me there are much more beautiful fragrances. And with that I am already at the end again and wish you all a nice weekend. And pay attention, if your refrigerator should order something sometime independently.... DD
