The Fragrance Engineers / Sohrab
Sohrab سهراب (nose: Prin Lomros)
A perfume cooked in 2017 by Prin Lomros for The Fragrance Engineers (similar to Nekro Dellamorte) and named after the tragic hero Sohrab.
Sohrāb is the legendary Persian warrior from Shahnameh, or Tales of the Ferdowsi Kings in the tragedy 'Rostam and Sohrab'. The story in Shahnameh is based on the history and mythology of the Persian Empire. Sohrab was the son of Rostam (Iranian warrior) and Tahmineh (daughter of King Samangam, a neighboring country). He was killed at a young age by his father, Rostam. Rostam only learned that he was his son after fatally wounding him in a duel. Kaykavous, the king of Iran, delayed giving Rostam a healing potion (Noush Daru) to save Sohrab because he feared losing power to a father-son alliance. Rostam gave Tahmineh a bracelet as a reminder and a sign to his son.

Sohrab perfume tells of the invasions of the Persian Gulf (now the territory of Afghanistan) through emotions and natural elements: fire, cold, glory, promises, revolutions and fallen ashes.
Notes:
-elemi
- Iranian galbanum,
-absolut of cypress,
- violet leaf,
-incense from Oman,
-ash,
-myrrh,
-styrax,
-black pepper,
- pink pepper,
-saffron,
-fire,
-ash,
-jatamansi,
-cumin,
-costus,
-grenade
and .... (you will not find this information everywhere) since the area of present Afghanistan is:
-OPIUM as well
-CHARAS (who doesn't know - live hemp seedling extract).

Well, we already have a historical curiosity about this fragrance, and in a nutshell - the tragedy and heroes of Afghanistan, great and bloody warriors from ancient Persia, ingredients related to the main sources of income in this area, the history of the region and its individual stages, fire, death, smoke and final ash. Perfume more for men, but ...... you know how it is.
Durability good, moderate projection.

Hidden in the depths of the woods
First I had considered to rewrite Sohrab in a story but due to the abundance of ingredients and the very changeable course was not appropriate. I had never heard of The Fragrance Engineers before, Sohrab is from Prin Lomros and there it was me as an old tester of many Prin work evidence of course not far to test here as well. As always, he has probably thought about how he could name the fragrance. The stories behind it respectively at all the process of naming I find with him generally very good, at least from the outside and rather rudimentary view.

Slowly stalking the resin armada olfactory. Hard to perceive what it all is. Myrrh is certainly there, the warm, aromatic element is clearly perceptible. Prin-typical with certainty also the Indian nard. He uses it from time to time anyway, here too it flanks the other ingredients. The nard is mostly noticeable because it has this special, somewhere earthy but also spicy smell.
It quickly becomes sharper, the pepper sets in. The interaction between resin melange and the two pepper varieties is characterized by complementation but also overlapping. It seems, a kind of competition would have broken out, the pepper successively wins, at least for the time being. Very intense-aromatic, very formative he acts here.

Sublim acts for my sensation now the Galbanum. At the beginning it was already briefly there, now it mixes with the pepper and exudes a fine but on closer inspection but clearly coniferous aura, which may seem strange at first, because the combination is not light fare, but at the same time this is also appealing. In the first test run I wanted to draw here mustard and bog associations and we are not far away se facto. Nevertheless, it remains with a similarity, no congruence and exactly here are in this phase of Sohrab the differences to Mriga and other Lomros creations.

The hours pass and eventually fire dominates. Not a burning inferno of fire, maybe there was one once but then that was some time ago, but rather a memory, a reminiscence of what was. Perhaps these are the blazing fires after the battle in which Sohrab was unwittingly killed by his father. Perhaps the scent of this Janus-faced fire, on the one hand warming, on the other distant, expresses the dilemma of the story and brings to life in my mind a lonely patch of woodland complete with faded fire, of which only scattered wisps of smoke still tell. Here was once life, here events took place but that was, not is.

All this is outlived by the Omani incense. Dark-smoky, intense and latently lurking it lies in the air and becomes tame after hours but still not tame. So this is how Sohrab fades away and leaves me astonished, although the conclusion seems only understandable. Incense as an incense resin was of course known to the Persians, perhaps suggesting and proclaiming the end of Sohrab's life. Everything fades away, only the ritually burned incense, and with it the memory, thus the myth, which remains.

Prin has conjured something here that I would not have expected so. Sure, animalism, mustiness and all that he can yes. Smoke basically too. In this intensity and way of doing it still came as a surprise to me including the multi-faceted but stringent course. Very exciting, will certainly have to be tested further to determine a purchase. We will see. Even though the landscape of Iran at the time is certainly different (I'm not knowledgeable on that), my mind projects that very abandoned piece of forest before my eyes and I close with the thoughts I have of Sohrab: Hidden in the depths of the woods.

Fire Roller
It resembles the battlefield where Rostam and Sohrab once fought each other.

Striking from the bottle, crazy tight and interwoven, a wall of scents. I'll try to summarize.
Green-brown earth, really dirty and muddy, fresh humus, pure peat and fire fire fire and smoke. Alcoholic notes are also buzzing around, peated malt whisky. Sweat, blood and glowing metal. This is how the dwarves felt when Smaug the dragon attacked the seaside town.

After a few minutes suddenly spices are added. Lots of pepper, so much that it itches in the nose, full broadside of cumin, something woody balsamic ghosting around in the background and incense I smell. Plus just fire, fire, and fire again.

After about two hours there is a lot of cold smoke, ashes and burnt wood - this part is extremely borderline for me. Wet ashes, old campfire.

Later then follow flowery notes, rose, jasmine I guess as well.

Ends does the whole thing calmly on incense, spices and burnt wood.

Yeah, what can I say - difficult to give a rating here. An extremely interesting scent, an experiment, for some perhaps a test of courage, here are some members who will have fun with this scent. Not wearable for me and also no perfume - but that does not diminish my evaluation.

After about 6h on my skin I could take a breather for the first time - then it became beautiful and wearable for me. The end on incense, some burnt wood and the beautiful spices, also some sweet wood, that was very nice.

Durability +12h
