I was VERY anxious while waiting for this one
The opening is quite powerful; a Strong, dark note (my wife says it’s almost “a citrus vibe”) that resonates and carries a long sillage... fades into an almost “mysterious” vibe, one I’m enjoying very much (the chocolate is bliss). Longevity on my skin is about 6hours, and projection goes maybe 2 1/2. It’s definitely UNIQUE, so you probably want to try before you buy, but for those who like that dark, almost Smokey, slightly leathery feel, it’s absolutely perfect.

Pure Malt
Hello Leudde,

*Gossip*

*Frrrrrrr*

Welcome your friends, Laramy Breakdance here. Today it's on my SuperduperNoseporn channel via Pjur Molt, a creation by Tjeri Mügle and Leudde..woha, I'm telling you this is a fragrance you are guaranteed to stand out with. This fragrance is Mega Mega Mega hot and so unique, the ladies are totally on it.
I've worn it several times and no matter where I've been, at the sausage counter, at the proctologist's, or during the dive, I've always, always.....ALWAYS had good ladies reactions. The girls love the scent of Pjur Molt.
What's it smell like?

*Pffft*

Wow, that's awesome, we have a boozy whisky note in here, coffee and the typical Mügle Patchouli chocolate DNA. He's such a Leudde masculine, get him in there. It's called Malt because it's got whiskey in it. But it could also be called Pjur malt, because malt is also part of this fragrance... Leudde..extremely long durability, extremely unique and extremely extreme.

So friends, I invited myself the Jackeline today, it will test and evaluate this smell for you today times.

Hello Jackeline *Muah* are but big today, wearing very high shoes. Jacky with high hacks, huh? Can you stand that long?

"That's no problem, I never stand long anyway, I usually lie in the horizontal." *Hihi*

OKAAAY..well Jacky, I'll spray you a scent here and you say something. Are you ready?

"Yes, I must say something immediately, or can I take my time?"

You can take your time, do it in peace.

"Ok is good, I'm actually fast, too. I once solved a jigsaw puzzle in 2 weeks, even though the package said "4-6 years" *Hihi*

*Pffft*
So Jacky, what do you say to the scent?

"Oh, I'm not very good with tests. I hope I'm not doing anything wrong now. I did a pregnancy test once, but I found the questions too difficult. Okay mhhh... I think it smells pretty good."

OKAAAAY, cool. Take your time. How does the scent affect you? Malty, isn't it? Boozy?

"Sweet, I'd say, a little alcoholic Sweet, like when I'm always bottled. I can't take that much."

OKAAAY, here's another sip of your Southern Comfort/Red Bull in return!
"Yeah, well, I like that one, he's got something. I can't say for sure, but I smell dark beer. Is there vitamin malt in it?"

Not bad Jacky, malt is actually contained, which has already something uniques, or?

"I don't know that many foreign words. My ex once taught me one called Fiktief. Or was it the ex before? I don't know, but what exactly do you mean by junik?"

OKAAY..I don't know, I just keep saying that, sounds cool.

"Oh well, so I find it sweet, alcoholic malty and totally something for men, so real guys like you. "*Hihi*

See you friends, totally good ladies reaction. From 1-10, what would you give to the fragrance?

"A pretzel! Definitely a pretzel!"

You mean an 8?

"That's right. I just couldn't think of the name of the pretzel." *Hihi* Hach You are to me like the hero who always scratched his Z everywhere. Zuperman!

OKAAAY..8 out of 10 Leudde. Thank you, Jacky. What are you doing today?

" I wanted to bake a chocolate cake, that always takes time, the dough goes fast. but the Smarties pellen is always corrosive."

Ok Leudde, Pjur Molt from Tjeri Mügle. My and Jackys recommendation for you, if you want to smell Unique and want to feel a Boozy Vibe, with clear Mügle DNA, lots of Patchouli and a bit woody in the back. That holds well and good versatility.

"Versatility? Is that from Versace?"

No, Jacky, that's what they say. Sounds cool. Drink up now. Okay, friends, I love you until next time. PEACE!

Unmistakable - sweet, playful and slightly untamed
There are just scents that won't let you go. This Pure Malt is such a candidate. I smelled it the first time in the Kaufhof and thought hmm very tasty. But the price still deterred me and the bottle with this rubber coating didn't really appeal to me at that moment either. So I moved on to town with him on my arm. Something at this special smell composition remained however so firmly anchored in my thoughts and I did not know no more how the smell was called..... i searched stupidly in the net and did not know then any more which A*Men special edition it was.... So two days later I was back in that department store. But then there was only the tester. I tested this fragrance so intensively that I realized after a short time. Okay, you've smelled so many scents before, but nobody smelled like this. Slightly fruity, sweet it has something very playful and a definitely high recognition value. His Sillage is in upper mediocrity, the durability with 6 hours is fine but he polarized my senses. I then ordered it online and still find this fragrance dreamlike. Something for autumn and winter.

The fine line between mainstream and madness
Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler seems to be a quite polarizing fragrance on Parfumo. According to all definitions, which I might read here so far a correct Mainstreamduft. Or maybe not?

If you ignore the brand, you could also use the smell as an indicator for a niche scent. One often reads of characteristics such as exclusivity, eccentricity and complexity. Pure Malt is exclusive in its own way: very rarely have I seen him in a shop. Whether he's been hired or not, I don't know. I had to get my impressions from bottlings. Thanks again to Parfumo for this opportunity and my financial ruin.
In my opinion, the scent is also unusual. I am not a whisky connoisseur like 80% of the comment writers, but I agree that a whisky does not smell like this. For me these usually smell harsher and smokier (depending on whisky of course). As for the malt, I think I can smell it after all. When I apply Pure Malt I always have to think about beer. It doesn't smell like beer, but it has that malty note that makes me think about it. Associations with alcoholic beverages are always there. For me a fragrance that fits ideally into a smoky bar or pub. Or in a rustic, warm beer cellar in winter. Colder seasons definitely go better with him. Due to the swinging sweetness in combination with this malt note Pure Malt is in my opinion a quite unusual scent. I'm amazed at who's talking about uniform porridge. I have never smelled a similar scent and have now ventured into the niche. And I wouldn't call him Mainstream or Crowdpleaser. Please remember that you have trained your noses with long experience and often label everything sweet as mainstream broth. Before Parfumo I had really only smelled designer and crowdpleaser. Black XS, Armani Code, D&G pour Homme and the list goes on and on. When I first got a taste of Pure Malt I was a bit confused and maybe repelled. It smelled far too strange and strange to me. Therefore, in my opinion, a big plus in terms of eccentricity.

Then what about complexity? Pure Malt is a rather straightforward fragrance that gains sweetness in the drydown. However, he is still very interesting as far as his composition is concerned. Keywords like malt and alcohol often make you think of massive masculine firecrackers like Bentley for Men Intense. Pure malt is masculine in a different way. The scent is quite sweet next to the malt note, which makes it a rather warm scent. By far not a cuddly scent, but also not repellent and scratchy. It's that masculinity that doesn't have to prove itself. The class that doesn't feel intimidated by the appearance of others, but coolly does its thing and attracts attention. Pure Malt is self-confident.

The sweetness doesn't pose a problem for me, because it's far from the bubblegum sweetness you're used to from the mainstream. It is loud, but not too intrusive (you don't have to spray a thousand times). The durability is very good, on the clothes it is still omnipresent and on the skin I was able to perceive it yesterday easily 5 hours without further ado.

My comment may encounter divided opinions. That's what the fragrance itself does. Please do not feel threatened or offended, it is only my own opinion. I stay calm and look forward to the Zwickl tonight.

This one came with a big reputation when I first started to get into fragrances, so it was nice to finally be able to break it down and put my thoughts into this video review.

Fruity Gourmand
Scentrack: John Lee Hooker - Boom Boom Boom

A fruity-boozy variation of the standard A*Men. It starts with the introduction of A*Men with beautiful fruity bouquet of smoked red berries with malt added. Usually whiskeys have some fruity component, but in Pure Malt this aspect is really exaggerated. The berry fermentation is followed by very interesting tart peat note, milky sandalwood and caramel.
Pure Malt is a wearable vision of whisky fragrance, ideal to impregnate the wooden bar of favorite pub of yours. If you need more realistic Islay whisky on your skin try Fumidus by Profumum Roma.

A modern classic...
Yes this is an example of a much loved, modern classic fragrance from the house of Thierry Mugler. I actually prefer this one to the original Angel Men. I think the addition of the boozy and fruity aspects really gives it new dimension and flavour.

It opens up with much of the same DNA as the original, but I would say that it holds enough distinction in that it is a flanker on it's own right. You can own both. The chocolate and patchouli aspects of the original have given way to a honeyed, boozy quality which is evident from the start, and very pleasing. I like it very much. I would say it is more versatile than the original in that it can be worn in many situations without overwhelming anyone. For those who saw the original as harsh and cloying this one is a mellowed, more well-rounded quality. I think it will appeal to both fans of the original and new customers. Definitely one to try if you prefer the sweet, gourmandish and boozy type of fragrances. I recommend this one over the original in many ways. A really great and pleasing choice all round. A very good overall fragrance and a must try for younger men for sure!

Oh, so yummy!
Without entirely understanding why, I am falling in love with A*Men Pure Malt, and it's only been my second wearing. This is yet another Thierry Mugler fragrance that has thrilled me beyond words and hit me right in the face with its monster sillage.

A*Men Pure Malt is quite sweet and boozy at first spray, perhaps a little too much for some. It reminded me of insect repellant, which I can assure you was not a very pleasant introduction. Thankfully, once settled, A*Men Pure Malt takes a more boozy-gourmand approach with malt, whiskey, fruits and syrupy amber.

Sweet accords in masculine fragrances are forgiven if amber features in the composition. As much as I love wearing A*Men Pure Malt on my own skin, I feel compelled to hand over the sample to my boyfriend as it smells so much better on him. The gourmand qualities become almost intoxicating, like some kind of exotic love potion on a man.

I only became aware of this flanker's existence around the same time that it was beginning to disappear from the shelves. A kind swapper provided me with a sample of this a few years on, and now I'm even more disappointed that this fragrance was a limited edition. It needs to be brought back.

A*Men Pure Malt lasts and lasts, and the sillage, although not as strong as the original A*Men, has a kick to it. The drydown is perhaps the best stage of the development, with a subtle, slightly musty whiskey accord, and smooth, smoky woods. I cannot even begin to put my adoration into words.

Thierry Mugler always has an uncanny way of putting a fun little twist on every flanker he makes. Who knew that a malt-based fragrance would be such a hit. Here's hoping that there will be many more A*Men flankers to come.

Once Upon A Time In GlenFiddich: Why Pure Malt Disappeared
What a day! Imagine the wild west coast of Scotland, on a stormy autumn night. Spindrift hits the cliffs and splatters the dark rocks with salty foam, wind tears apart patches of fog, and clouds burst as the downpour begins. Like a hart on heat, the engine of my old Landrover roars as I follow the narrow single track road, winding through heath and bog, up the coastal mountains.

Approaching the top of the pass, the silhouette of the old gallows emerges in front of this sky in uproar, an unmistakable warning to any adulterator of perfume, as in ancient times, many of those unfortunates were dragged to this desolate place in order to pay for their sins! Suddenly, the old engine loses its confident sound, it bucks and stutters, and with a final death rattle, the car comes to a halt. Now, the aggressive bang of heavy rain is the only noise, painfully amplified by the metal car body.

There, a sudden stroke of lightning, almost simultaneously followed by a mighty peal of thunder! For an instant, the scenery lights up brightly, and at the kerbside, I recognize the reflection of a meagre, rawboned figure. I see its long, drenched overcoat, a flimsy hat covering a haggard head that very oddly tilts to one side.

“Sir, can you give me lift? I’ve been staying here for such a long time!”
“What are you doing in this beastly weather up here?”
“Uhm…I had a little dispute with my customers.”
“Oh, and they left you behind?”
“Yes, so to speak.”
“That wasn’t too nice of them. What upset your valued customers so much?”
“Oh, that’s a long story. You know, the taxes… and one does have costs. You have to mind your business, don’t you? Especially, if you are an outstanding innovative entrepreneur.”
“So, you were very innovative?”
“But I just wanted to sell whiskey!”
“In Scotland? With all that competition?”
“Ah, no way! Not drinkable whiskey – whiskey to spray, a perfume!”
“Great idea! This must come like a bombshell!”
“There were problems”
“Which?”
“There was no whiskey in it at all!”
“Really? What else?”
“Belgium beer!”
“I see, and if it comes to whiskey, the Scots can’t take a joke.”
“But – Belgium beer is also nice!”
“Then, why didn’t you call it like that?”
“Are you serious? A*Men Le Trappiste? How ridiculous!”
“Now you’ve made me curious.”
“Wait! One canister is still left!”

Like out of nowhere my new friend produces a big jerry can and starts meddling with the fastener. His head flutteringly bounces from one side to the other.

“Wonderful – a masterpiece! A true work of art! Just smell this – these discreet hints of roasted barley! And then the subtle patchouli note that adds this very specific earthiness to the composition! And then this homely, slightly alcoholic sweetness! Perfect refinement and opulence! …Can we please pull out now?”
“I am afraid, no!”
“Why?”
“I ran out of fuel!”
“What? Then I have to stay forever in this nasty place? Please, you can’t do this to me!” – And without any restraint, he sobs and whines, loudly pitying his evil fate.

“Oh, please don’t”, I try to console him. “Especially you as an outstanding innovative entrepreneur should always mind your chances and make the best out of any situation.”
“But this single canister full of perfume is all I have!”
“A Landrover has a robust engine.”
“And you mean…”
“The canister, please!”

And so, the last remains of A*Men Pure Malt vanished it the fuel tank of a decrepit Landrover that cruised the Scottish Highlands with a now even louder roar, leaving behind mighty fumes of Belgium beer.
