Hi folks! Today I will describe one of the newer Angel fragrances by Thierry Mugler. It's the Angel Eau Croisière from 2019, and I know the successor is already out there, but I only had the 2019 one at hand, so why not try it out? Maybe I can compare it with the new 2020 version sometime later on!
Anyway, the flanker's called a croisière, which means cruise. Angel on a cruise? No no, I don't call you ladies angels anymore, I've already given up on that :D You know that I only call you heart-wrenching beasts, so you're more devils than angels, mu ha ha ha ha! And yes, even if you'd never admit it, you know that's true, don't you? You mean beasts, you! :DD
All right, let's get to the scent. Well, the fishing series is usually a special scent series, because people either like it or don't like it at all and above all it is very well known. And most of the time these scents (especially the EDP) are quite strong and spicy scents, which are usually only wearable in autumn and winter, as they would be extremely suffocating in warm weather right now. But now comes a variation that sounds lighter and even sounds quite summery. In the pyramid you can read scents like mango and ice cream, well, if that doesn't sound summery and delicious! So I'm curious if the scent feels completely different or if it smells spicy and heavy, as always, but with a little more fruity content... well, here we go, you beasts!
The smell:
Right at the beginning you can recognize the typical Angel DNA, even if it seems much less spicy and violent here. New, however, are the rather exotic-fruity scents, which actually leave a summery impression. You can smell the most mango here, which not only comes across like the fruit itself, but also like a kind of ice cream, which already smells delicious. There are also synthetic-sweetish notes, which are familiar from such fragrances, but the synthetic here is a bit more intense than in other Angel fragrances. Well, that's not really disturbing, but you can already notice it.
It remains fruity-sweet for a while, which is quite different for the fishing series, as one is often used to intensive honey notes and spices here, and all this leaves a wintery impression. Here on the other hand you have to think of summer all the time, because the scent is much more relaxed, which is also due to the mentioned exotic fruits. And so the scent is actually quite different, even if, as mentioned, you should still smell the well-known scents in the background, such as the general Angel DNA. I think it's great that even after almost an hour you can still smell mango and even a little grapefruit, because especially citric scents usually evaporate quite fast. Of course the citric scents are not sparkling here, but you can still smell the fruit and I think that's nice!
Later on the fruity notes remain quite present, but the scent is slightly heavier due to the patchouli, and the general Angel DNA also seemed a bit more intense than at the beginning, although this is of course still no comparison to a typical Angel with a fierce aura, as this scent remains much looser until the end and radiates summery. A beautiful scent!
The Sillage and the durability
The sillage is much less than the usual angels, but still the scent is not too loose, so it should smell good for a while. The shelf life of six to eight hours (maybe more) is shorter, but six to eight hours is still a pretty good time!
The bottle!
The bottle is once again a beauty in itself. The usual star shape has not been changed, only the color of the glass has been adapted to the fragrance. You can now see a beautiful color gradient from red to yellow, which looks great and is also summery. The spray area is still chrome plated. All in all a top flacon.
Conclusion:
Soo, I have to say one thing in advance: The scent is quite simple. Not a violent scent with spicy scents and honey, but a clearly loose scent with fruity scents, which actually doesn't change much further. But that's not too bad, as constantly smelling scents can be great, too. And I think that this rod is made quite nicely and differs quite well from most flankers of this fragrance series.
As Finchen wrote before me in her commentary, I also find that this fragrance is quite reminiscent of the summer scents of Escada, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Escada is a brand anyway, whose summer scents one could definitely treat oneself to from time to time, not only because they are quite cheap, but also because they smell quite nice. They are no firecrackers, no extraordinary scents, but just nice perfumes for warm days that provide a good mood. Therefore I find most of the Escada summer scents quite nice, as well as this Mugler here. But the Mugler is much more expensive, which I would list as the only weak point, but well, that's the way it is.
In short, I would say: Those who want to be light and easy and maybe a little more flowery will have a look at the Escadas. If you want it slightly more intense and slightly spicier, try this scent here (or rather the one from 2020, although I don't know it yet...). But actually, I would recommend to try the Muglers as well as the Escadas anyway, because both brands have quite nice scents in their assortment. And I would also recommend you to try the Mugler's Alien scents again, but no, you ladies still resist like cats against water... :D
You would smell so delicious with the aliens, even if you are beastly on it again... *sigh* :D
Anyway, so go and test this scent, it might be worth it :)
Well, that's it for me for today. I wish you all a nice evening and see you all :)
