Even people who shine
... have dark hours.
I spent a long time thinking about how to categorize the fragrance in my mind and came to the conclusion that it really does have excessive moments of light, but also just as much shadow. Darkness. Albeit in a very unique way. In an unusual way . You can be radiant, but you can also have dark hours again and again.
The heart of darkness is not dark at all on first contact. On the contrary. It is a cynical freshness that rises from the damp ground on which people stand barefoot. An artificial soap bubble that envelops. Moss covers the senses. Light and fog alternate, barely allowing any sun. Rain chords trickle down on the pale skin. It seems damp & musty. But then it becomes softer. Clearly. The fog moves away and awakens a warm side. The sun kisses the pale skin. It gets warmer. The earth becomes drier. Then smoke seals in, combining with a lovely note of sandalwood, which rises and falls in the air as if hypnotized. There is some tar in the base and a dash of petrol. It literally smokes out, but moss does not let go of the senses, covering them with a thick layer. Resin slowly drips down from the sky, seeping into the dry earth. You dig your feet in deeper, letting the moisture out at the sides. The sun is then covered by black clouds, as if someone had drawn a black curtain. Then silence. Grains of earth vibrate underfoot, patchouli bubbles bubble. It is as if the earth is breathing.
However, the fragrance is rather short-lived and the sillage is not overly present. On the other hand, I really like the concept, although I would have chosen a different name. Perhaps rather "the heart of the forest"
A thoroughly interesting fragrance, which initially appears in a light way, but then becomes more serious and darker, although this does not open up any abysses in the perfume universe. Rather, it is an immersion for a few hours into the darkness that we all experience and indeed have, even when we shine. The darkness of every forest.
