Is this art, or can it go away?
If you research lily of the valley perfumes, as I do, you will eventually come across what is probably the most controversial lily of the valley scent ever. From praise songs declaring it as art to denigration as manure brook, cow shed and the poop on the flower meadow, it's all there. "Hahaha," Aspasia thinks to herself with a diabolical grin, "he has to be in the Lily of the Valley package!". No sooner said than done, but of course I want to test it myself, otherwise where's the fun?
Deathly courageous (?) I spray temple so on the wrist. On the other came Replica - Lazy Sunday Morning Eau de Toilette, virtually a harmless lily of the valley as a comparison. And in the first few seconds, the two actually smell quite similar. A fresh lily of the valley, in fact. But then, from one second to the next the oud kicks in at Tempel, at least I think it is, I don't have much experience with this controversial trendy substance yet. And that's when the scent descriptions here at Parfumo start to get funny, because what hits your nose is indeed special. For me it smelled, now please do not laugh, like soft cheese, not yet long pulled, but fresh out of the package.
And what is even crazier, than the cheese on the flower meadow, is the fact that I found it not so bad. I was irritated, but also intrigued. This ambivalence between lovely lily of the valley and finest Camembert occupied my brain non-stop and it pulled my nose again and again to the wrist to understand so what I smelled there. Disgusting I found it not at all, but simply unusual.
After about 20 min was then "cheese fun" over. The Oud smelled now clearly more resinous, with a subnote that I would call skin chord. Still not a scent that those who care about that would call a crowdpleaser, but at least something very individual. I had in any case a lot of fun testing and am now already curious how the fragrance will arrive in the Wp.
Brief note on the sillage: this is more of an estimate. I found him quite close to the skin, but have also sprayed only once briefly to consume little, since he should still wander. When neat spraying the sillage may therefore be more pronounced.
