Ebonized Vanilla Orchid
A reviewer compared Love & Toast POMME POIVRE to Tokyomilk DEAD SEXY, and as I liked the former, I decided to check out the latter. Both lines are the creations of Margot Elena, evidently an exceedingly energetic woman, who also runs another perfume house (Lollia) as well. She seems to be a one-woman design production machine, who creates not only perfumes but also all of her own packaging designs, which never cease to delight. (no, I'm not a shill)
DEAD SEXY is probably the most well known of Elena's creations, having commanded something of a cult following. It's definitely an original composition, featuring one of her favorite notes, ebony, which is here combined with vanilla and orchid in a creamy base. It has a weirdly addictive quality to it. There's something about the texture which is both elusive and attractive. It's not skanky, and it's not gourmand. Perhaps voluptuous would be one way to describe it.
In a side-by-side comparison with POMME POIVRE (a completely misnamed perfume!!!!), I find that the two perfumes are indeed very similar to one another, with the ebony and the vanilla creating the same smooth and chewy effect, although the listed florals differ in the two cases.
I definitely recommend DEAD SEXY for testing by anyone looking for a perfume experience entirely unique to Margot Elena, who really has a way with ebony. I have not smelled anything like this at any other house, and it smells both natural and nice.
