Arabian? This smells Arabian in the manner of a Penhaligon's fragrance, that is to say, British.

First and foremost, can we dispense with “Arabian” unless we’re referring to horses or history? I assume Tom Ford uses the word because it’s Fashion Fantastical. Ariabian, you know, like A Thousand and One Nights. It’s the orientalism of early 20th century perfumery all over again. Stale, offensive exoticism. Also, the imagery and allusion is just cheesy. Makes the line seem like a spin on The House of Creed. Replace the tassels and epaulets with glossy pseudo-mod and you still have the same thing: hot air and cuff links.

The perfume is nice, though. I can't say that I smell lavender per se, but I do smell the soapy, herb-on-hay sweetness of a fougere. At the same time there is a dry bitter green angle, like a tight-assed chypre. Maybe galbanum dressed up as lavender and took its place in the fougere. This tinderbox-dry woodiness balances the moist feel of the fougere, but in the end the fougere wins, and a fairly dark, minor chord similar to that of Rive Gauche pour Homme's basenotes lasts until you wash it off.

Arabian Wood is a fine old-school barbershop fougere. Simplicity is a virtue in the classic aromatic fougere. Messing around too much with the basic formula diminishes the stride of the old boy. Ford have added enough to make it stand on its own, but haven’t muddied the waters. The name is a bit of misdirection, but the perfume is straightforward and handsome in a classic, soapy, manly fashion. Women, give it a try.

An extraordinary mixture!
It's a noble scent.
For people with certain demands (on themselves and the environment). It is ideal for an evening reception, where men wear dark, discreet suits with ties and ladies classic, elegant dresses with décolleté... Imagine this ambience already?
Sensual, restrained, self-confident, but at the same time stimulating and long-lasting - in short, a highly recommendable combination! (But more suitable for men than ladies).

A Dignified Interpretation of Beauty
Arabian Wood stood out to me, so i decided i'd smell it

This is BEAUTIFUL!. ABSOLUTLEY BEAUTIFUL!. Like a MONSTER. I have been to the UAE and it is one of the most incredibly luxurious and personified places to visit in the world. Arabian wood is a testament to the beauty of the culture it has interpreted. Tom Ford himself should be congratulated for such a fantastic and complex scent and all with woods. The Chypre is definetly evident to me but it is sort of like the ribbon around the present, its pretty much what ties the woody notes all together and whilst i usually dislike an overload of woods, this works beautifully. I can pick up the luscious Gardenia in this fragrance, its prominent and strong, it gives the fragrance a very feminine sort of elegance but there might also be rosewood in this scent to, giving it a feminine touch, but its very muted, the oud is extremely dominant and well so it should be- its beautiful. Im not to sure if i get a spiciness from Arabian Wood but i definetly get a sense of warmth and that could be from notes of spices but to my nose its not as present as it might be for other reviewers. I think when you're purchasing a Tom Ford product and intend on wearing this, then you should be packed with confidence because i think it would take some guts to wear Arabian Wood- not that its overpowering or awful but the strength and the character of this fragrance is not going to sit right with everyone, which is a shame because i love exotic scents like this- its sexy and unashamed of how luxurious it is. In my opinion this is definetly a unisex scent. I ended up buying the 50ml bottle, which is incredibly expensive but worth every single penny

Projection to middle eastern impossible
I discovered this perfume in 2017 through a sample. it is a very strong heady perfume, intoxicating, outdated, outdated, old fashioned. this smell. it looks like a perfume designed by mistake, an accident. the price of 300€ also seems like an accident to make us feel the way he keeps it. one of the worst in the collection.

Arabian Wood
Opens with a blend of unidentifiable flowers, green notes, cumin and dry woods. It may seem like an odd composition, but it manages to work just fine. It is rough yet polished - dark yet crystalline, all at the same time. The fragrance becomes warmer and denser as the notes bloom on my skin. The citrus and green notes vanish, whereas the rose notes grows larger than life until I see a very potent, almost menacing dark rose layered over a blend of woodsy notes. Creamy - powdery nuances are provided by orris and sandalwood, whereas cedar and honey provide aromatic - spicy nuances. I don't really like this fragrance, it is far too rich for my taste and it bores me with its excessive complexity. I prefer compositions that are almost the polar opposite of Arabian Wood.
