It smelled of incense, wood and discord
Again too much text for a statement.
I always try so hard to keep my thoughts short, because all I want to say is:
Between fresh curd soap and resin on the hands.
Between the ground and shoes, the cold leaves, the damp earth, dead rock.
In a suit through the silent forest in the middle of the night. Incense, tobacco, silence.
It's not cold enough to freeze, but cool enough to think clearly.

One moment you smell Terre d'Hermès, the next you smell Cacharel pour l'Homme.
Then everything is different again.
Frankincense wherever you smell.
Cedar wood and tobacco, make the fragrance very masculine.
Fougère Platine is not sweet, not pleasing, not always understandable for outsiders.
Related to Fougère d'Argent, but not so easily charming.
At least not at first glance.
Fougère Platine is more direct, woody, smokier than its brother. Fougère d'Argent never takes his suit off.
Fougère Platine sometimes looks better in it.
Instead of lavender there is wood and incense.
I like them both.

Oxymoronoldness
"Fougere Platine" is a creamy Fougere, steel grey and not very natural. Bayer meets Cyprus, Wall Street meets ebony, forest meets concrete. But I like him most of the time. Until he gets on my nerves sometime. But it takes time. A grey panther. An old boy, a silent cry.

A delicately mottled cedar cream meets green moss stains. Definitely an upscale perfume for me. Decent smoky, solid, artificial decency. Maybe even dementia. I don't know. Anyway, Tom Ford already has more better scents like worse than this one under his portfolio. But Fougere attracts me magically, so I had to test him and even gave him the right of way before such illustrious names like "Lost Cherry" or "F*cking Fabolous". But unfortunately this synthetic Fougere does not play in this weight class. Not even rudimentarily.

Delicate, grey, green, classic, creamy. Cedar, moss, minimal incense. There's not much more. Well stirred and mixed. Fine blend. But it is quite boring, boring and after a certain period even slightly bitter, stinging and lame. Not a good last third. Everything before that is simple and solid. "Platinum Egoiste" meets something like "Lavender Palm", only with cedar and other light woods. Could also be a Commes of the Garcon. Only without their eggs and creativity. Here this looks smoother, greener and more sophisticated. Calculating and the opposite of wild and passionate. Subcooled heat. Almost a little robotic. The smell of a K.I. suit?!

Flacon: the epitome of modern, cool elegance. Tom Ford couldn't have done a better job. Perhaps THE flacons that have shaped this century so far. Despite their price and often felt unapproachability.
Sillage: suitable for office use and, as is usually the case with TF, not totally quiet. The man's not a Rand man. Neither does his perfume. But this is clearly "reserved" for him.
Shelf life: 7-9 hours was enough for me - although I like this silver cedar nemesis very much.

Conclusion: a Fougere with grey hair and a lot of experience. Chemistry laboratory meets business class, creamy meets artificial and (quickly) bitter. Forced cool. Rarely at Ford...

Dry smoky woods wrapped in a sharply green clary sage. In the same vein as FM French Lover but a bit rougher around the edges. Decent.
