Out of the Box
I admit it: I had already written a wonderful commentary in which I philosophized about our new attic apartment in a small suburb directly on the edge of the forest and made associations with this wonderful scent.
But somehow this comment did not suit me. It was somehow too banal, too... unimaginative
Sure: Modern new apartment, suburb of a larger city, edge of a forest... Business people and their connection to nature, where you can let off steam in the woods after a hard day's work and go out to feel and ground yourself.
Even if it all fit somehow, it didn't fit somehow.
Because: this fragrance is more than that.
If I had to describe the fragrance with just one word, I would say "OTHERS".
Patchouli Absolu may smell dark, wooden, wicked, sexy and earthy - but it smells different to me above all else. Outside the Box.
Yes, after a long day at work I like to go for a walk or jog in the woods around here. Most of the time I still wear the chic trousers, shirt and sometimes the jacket, depending on the weather. And yes, I love walking there, feeling the ground with every step, breathing in the forest air, smelling the different woods. But, as I said before, all this is still too banal.
So let me - to dedicate a worthy comment to the fragrance - think outside the box.
UPON/HEADNOTE - Get out of the apartment.
On a cool autumn evening, it is already late, my partner and I decide to leave the house once more to go for a walk in the woods.
The apartment is warm, bright, cozy and comfortable. But not outside. So we pack up well, gloves, scarf and cap are also included. And so it goes out the door.
The first thing that hits me is the cool forest air. It's uncomfortable. Pitch-black night, no moon in the sky - and even if there was one, there would be too much fog anyway. We walk into the forest, leaving most of the fog behind us, but some swaths of mist are also moving around the trees.
At the beginning it gets woody. But nothing sweet. No, deep woody, creaky old trees. The leaves still hanging on the branches, rustling with the wind. The moss along the way smells strong and intense. The fallen leaves add their aromas. And again a cold wind blows around my nose.
HERZNOTE - Deeper into the forest.
The deeper we walk into the dark forest, the more the smell of the dark woods unfolds. The air is dry as dust, the ground almost resembles sand. I feel the dust I stir up when I walk on this ground. The steps are loud, firm and determined. Again and again bigger and smaller roots protrude into the path. They smell of dark resins. Wicked.
The forest is not a fir forest, but a noble mixed forest, whose woods now develop their full aromas in autumn, while the uncomfortably cold wind carries and mixes them throughout the woods.
My partner is holding my hand a little tighter than usual. And squeezes a little harder than we hear an owl calling.
We pass freshly felled wood. They weren't businessmen, no. They were strong guys who, in the sweat of their brow and with the most laborious effort, had felled and cut up the trees. I feel as if I can even detect slight nuances of their scent. But this is quickly drowned out by the tempting inherent smell of these noble woods and of course by the resin, which is thick and viscous. The shavings still lie on the dry ground.
BASIC NOTE - On the way home.
We have surely been on the road for what feels like an eternity, it is time to slowly leave the forest and head for home.
The smell of the different woods still accompanies us all the way home, as well as the dusty ground that still hangs everywhere on our new leather boots.
When we enter our bright apartment again, it smells cosy and homely. It gets warm and this warmth starts to warm up our frozen bodies again. I snuggle up on the leather sofa, a warm cloth blanket to go with it. My partner beside me. In the morning she had put on some kind of perfume, now I can still smell the clay canote on her skin very, very slightly. Tired from the walk and the cold, we fall asleep cuddled together on the sofa.
In the morning I can still smell the forest.
Fragrance 9.5/10 - The scent of dark, gloomy forest with dust-dry paths and the noble resins of freshly felled trees is not sweet, but pure power work. Very wicked and very sexy!
Shelf life 10/10 - This fragrance lasts for what feels like an eternity. Applied in the morning, it is still strongly present and clearly perceptible even late in the evening. Even the next day before showering it is still there, but then only very close to the skin.
Sillage 10/10 - A real Sillage miracle. It radiates massively and is also immediately noticed by others. Only conditionally something for the office, rather for going out or special occasions, where you should and want to attract attention.
Flacon 9/10 - Private Line flat.
CONCLUSION: For me a masterpiece of the most exclusive perfume art. You get something unique and special here. Something that certainly not everyone has and which you will definitely be asked about. The fragrance convinces me by its noble and rare scents paired with an incredible durability and sillage
