For me this is the opening of Tuscan Leather and it stays that way. While the normal tuscan leather evolves, the intense stays till the end as the “opening”. Clearly marketing strategy, but a nice scent. Closed doors of a church, a cowboy who has’nt showered in a week.
Nice scent but a bit overpriced.

"Intense"
Before I start, it's not wrong to mention the normal Tuscan Leather, because while you can ask the Gretchen question in terms of taste, you can't in terms of reference. Everyone must acknowledge that with TL, Tom Ford has created a fragrance that has inspired numerous works, similar fragrances and also very identical creations. Some very successful, some very messed up. I too like the original precisely because it is so boisterous in saffron and yet so smooth and rough at the same time. Is it my favorite leather perfume? No. But it doesn't have to be. Other leather fragrances from the house of Tom Ford like Ombre Leather or Ombre Leather 16 have not convinced me at all, these are too sweet for me.

Intense then. What is intense - at least in the sense of a focus - is the saffron. If this still seems wild and impetuous in the original, this is here more captured, more concentrated to perceive. Likewise, the raspberry seems greener to me, more unripe. Now there is no hinberry, supposedly Davana, which I know so far only penetrating exotic-fruity and rather unpleasant because it reminds me of mango, I do not appreciate. I would not have recognized so. Anyway, the Davana is also smoky and in combination with the woods it probably provides the saffron substitute feeling, because saffron is supposedly not included. Thus, a tart aroma develops at the beginning, but not so strongly saffron overloaded, logically somewhere, but still rather dark and rough leathery.

Relatively briskly, the fragrance becomes monothematic. One wonders why you put TL on the chain, it became clear to me only when studying the ingredients. The leather smells intense, but not fine but rather coarse but not too coarse. The woods, for me indefinable, strengthen this impression, but do not improve the fragrance.
I know saffron is a matter of taste but it is racy and expressive. That is unfortunately missing here. The tart note is nice but becomes successively smoother. It goes on like that, I'm also lacking in development. Is this more mature or maybe just more boring?

Honestly? Intense is not more adult than the original, it is also not finer, not more complex, it is simply different and seems to me like a copy of the original. Too deliberate, too contrived despite bold astringency. Sure, basically a pleasant fragrance. But the wild creative power is missing to me, the partly somewhat lacking balance. In this respect, no, this would not have needed it.

Tom Ford's leather fragrances - an analysis
Tuscan Leather, Tuscan Leather Intense and Ombré Leather - These are the leather scents by Tom Ford that are common to me and currently available in regular retail and retail stores.

Now, the average consumer may ask himself which of the three fragrances he should acquire, since all fragrances have the same program: High performance, long lasting and incredibly powerful leather scents.

As a big Tom Ford and leather fragrance fan, I have now taken the trouble to test and analyze all three fragrances and finally make a recommendation.

Let's start with TUSCAN LEATHER, the primary rock and patriarch of all leather fragrances:
The fragrance is leathery and smoky, like the other two fragrances. In the prelude I hear a strong portion of heavy raspberry paired with finest smooth leather. Imagine a brand new black AMG with the most luxurious interior - do you see the dark seats made of smooth leather? Just like the seats, this fragrance exudes an aura of luxury and superiority, but at the same time conveys a feeling of endless safety and comfort. Just like an AMG... dynamic, powerful, luxurious, safe and comfortable.
The entire fragrance is dominated by heavy raspberry and dark smooth leather. At one moment or another, you will notice warm woods and perhaps a slightly smoky aura - like when you drive your AMG through short stretches of forest and through small villages with many chimneys in winter. Even if these scents occasionally stand out, they never take the upper hand, but always leave raspberry and leather in charge.
Scent: 8/10 - A very good scent, but not fully suitable for everyday use. The occasion must fit. I imagine a romantic candlelight dinner, a club night or an official event where you have to and want to be present. In the world of work, whether in the office or at meetings, I imagine this fragrance to be suitable only to a limited extent, as it could well cause a stir with its strong silage and extremely distinctive scents.
Durability: 9/10 - Tom Ford once again exceeded himself in durability.
Sillage: 9/10 - strong, very, very strong.
Flacon: 10/10 - Tom Ford Private Blend.

Now to TUSCAN LEATHER INTENSE, the son of the Patriarch, who would like to take up the inheritance today rather than tomorrow:
This leathery-woody scent is the perfect offspring of such a powerful patriarch. It seems he's passed down only the best of his genes and DNA. Raspberry? Even heavier! Leather? Yes, rougher, more rugged, more angular and only for lovers. Wooden? Yes, the woods are getting longer. Smokier? Also yes, the villages with the chimneys are getting bigger and the chimneys are running at full power. If my neighborhood smoked like that, I'd probably move away.
Intense is really serious here. The fragrance runs at its fullest capacity, is even more intense, even stronger and even more dynamic than the original. However, this scent is also much more "brutal", much more angular and angular. While the original is still dark smooth leather in the brand-new AMG, we are talking about a leather manufacturer in South American Argentina. And believe me: I have been there! It smells of pure leather, of the sweat of the workers, of rough hands, of smoke, diesel and oil from the machines... It's hot, it's sweaty and it's dirty. And these pungent smells accompany me even after I leave this factory. For a very, very long time - one shower will not be enough here. This is Tuscan Leather Intense.
Scent: 7/10 - For me a real work of art. But as it is with art - one person likes it, the other does not. And with this scent I get in trouble. It is so loud, so strong and so angular that it really divides people. It's biting, but for me it's in a beautiful form. Negative comments and compliments guaranteed.
Shelf life: 20/10 - Even after showering, it is still very noticeable. Dose carefully! INTENSE is really serious here.
Sillage: 10/10 - Two sprayers and 10 minutes aeration, the apartment still smells like it.
Flacon: 10/10 - Tom Ford Private Blend, I love the writing on the silver.

Finally, now my beloved OMBRÉ LEATHER, my absolute favourite:
This fragrance is leathery and spicy and although it is not a direct descendant of the Tuscan patriarchs, it simply cannot deny its family affiliation.
Leather dominates this fragrance as well. However, no longer in such a distinctive form as with the two previously mentioned fragrances. The raspberry is also gone, replaced by fine, exquisite spices and unobtrusive jasmine. Woods? Yes, still, but much more subtle and elegant thanks to the use of patchouli and vetiver, which in this fragrance is absolutely not green, but deep woods. Smoky? No. But wicked, yes. But I don't attribute the wickedness to a single scent, but to the composition as a whole: The dominant leather is always underscored by spicy cardamom and subtly applied saffron. Jasmine, too, plays only a secondary but passionate role and is used in just the right amount and dosage. The leather here is smooth, still dark, but so comfortable and cosy. The Tuscan patriarchs scream and even the shaded leather is not unknown for its secrecy - it too is strongly present and omnipresent. But he is loud in a completely different way: He is simply there. Where the Tuscan relatives scream for attention, no, roar, the Ombré Leather is simply there. Like a guy in a black, tailor-made designer suit who enters the packed ballroom and the music suddenly stops and all eyes are on him.
Loud in a beautiful way. Loud without saying a word. Sexy, playful and wicked in one moment and serious, comfortable and strong in the next. The rock in the surf. And for me an incredible compliment getter.
Scent: 10/10 - Tom Ford has outdone himself with this leather scent. I use it on almost every occasion: in the office, on business trips, at meetings, in the club, on a date - simply everywhere; and everywhere I get compliments for it. The only catch: Definitely only partly wearable in summer, more of an autumn/winter scent. In summer maybe in the evening in a well air-conditioned bar.
Durability: 10/10 - It lasts and lasts and lasts and really rivals the Tuscan Leather Intense. On clothes it lasts until the next wash and is extremely present whenever I pass the laundry basket. On the skin it lasts until the next shower and is even after that partly still perceptible.
Sillage: 8/10 - Strong, but no monster. A pleasant room filler, I could describe him like this.
Flacon: 6/10 - As a big fan of the Private Blend series, I can't take too much pleasure in the design of this flacon, but: only the contents count.

RECOMMENDATION:
For lovers of great and high quality leather fragrances: All three!
For all those who are looking for a good all-rounder: Ombré Leather!

Ready to mate.
Sometimes I wonder why all designers are after modified new editions of their classics.
Intense, Extreme, Absolute, Aqua, what is there not all... And in my personal opinion at least two thirds of all new editions could stay away.
But there are exceptions. I find Oud Wood Intense, for example, worlds better and more interesting than the original. Ombre Leather 16 and Ombre Leather are also such a case, at least for me.
With Tuscan Leather I was again skeptical, because I like the original very, very much.

To anticipate one thing, Tuscan Leather and his Intense brother are much more similar in odor technique than Oud Wood and Oud Wood Intense, who don't really have anything in common.
It is a leather fragrance in which the leather acts in the foreground at all times.
The most important difference here may be (now it's a bit difficult to grasp) perhaps even the subliminal background of the leather. It comes here substantially rougher (c)hbeiniger therefore than with the little brother.
Where Tuscan Leather nestles balsamic-sweet, the Intense version hisses much more. If one would describe Tuscan Leather as wicked, elegant and cuddly, one would use the words wild, animalistic and ready to mate...
The leather here is also available in a purer form, which may be due to the fact that the ingredients have also been drastically reduced. Davana and woods aromatize and harmonize in the background, but are more companions that present the leather aroma rather than ensnare it. Any sweetness and a direct coating of the leather aroma are absent here.
That's what makes the fragrance so good. I like the rawness very much and for me it also makes your essential difference between the two fragrances. A little as if I decide in the morning which leather jacket I want to wear today.

Tuscan Leather Intense makes no secret of where his lineage is. But it interprets them much more masculine, possibly even much more macho. Tuscan Leather may be called a classic, the Intense version scores (with me) especially with its bumpiness and rawness, which in the end is really a matter of taste. Both have their justification, whereby I would say now quite spontaneously, I like the Intense version just minimally better.

Oh, to give a little (not at all bad meant) side blow, which I can't resist:
Before we speculate again, I have the smell of Selfridges. ;-)
