THE Scent for a tropical cruise vacation!
Martinique opens up with a fresh blast of tangy fruits, and I love it! The apple, raspberry, and mandarin go very well together. The fruits stick around for a long while (especially in hair), and then soft floral tones begin to emerge. The base is a soft musk with some sweet-ish fruity-floral-ness. It becomes pretty close to a skin scent, but it lasts longer in hair and on clothing.
Okay, so there's nothing really new or groundbreaking about this fragrance. It just plain ol' makes me happy! It's not a beast, projection-wise, but it's strong enough to be able to smell it wafting around me. I wore it to church today because it's not offensively loud or cloying. It's just fresh, clean, and kind of tangy. Actually, I chose it because I wore a pale blue skirt with white boats sailing along the hemline, so I thought, "Set Sail Martinique!" My outfit fits the perfume exactly! The only other outfit that might work better is a swimsuit with a large, elaborate caftan cover-up and glittery sandals.
This is a sparkling and happy scent. It really is like a Caribbean cruise in a bottle. There is no coconut, but it just has that tropical vacation "feel" to it. I am very happy to have it in my collection for hot, sunny, summery days. It would work in spring, too, as the weather gets warmer, and possibly in fall. I'm not sure how it would fare in the cold of winter. It might fall flat, but it also might give one that extra feel of summer vacation! I'll be sure to test it in winter and edit this review if that changes.
The bottle is pretty, but difficult to hold while spraying. It's shaped like a river stone that has been rounded by centuries of being tossed about in running water. I especially love the iridescent greenish color of the bottle--very mermaid-y!
