Mean Bavarian Water
"Freshman" - that's another "Cool Water" clone!!? This is how it usually echoes out of the mouths of the people - but this green aquatic creature, which looks extremely (!) modern and at the same time timeless, is supposed to be 100 already - written out: one hundred!!! - Years earlier. Whatever is true - "Freshman" is exactly my taste. I still love "GIT" and Co., probably forever - so I can't give this British freshman a much worse rating.

"Freshman" has a green-metallic moss vibe just like the very similar bestsellers mentioned, with which it has in my opinion about 90% overlap. Extremely invigorating, just the "cooling" effect. Synthetically pitched high without mercy - but here as an example of how to do it right. Barbershop meets surf, wet shave kisses sea breeze, oak moss takes the stubble chin. Male, masculine, gently macho. Clean and fresher than any shower. Seems to me even more high-class, a little deeper and more real than the Davidoof hit. "GIT" he has to admit defeat, but even that is a neck-and-neck race. And it is, after all, some time of the year (together with "Millesime Imperial") my signature (if you can even talk about it with hundreds of fragrances in your closet). More compliments and respect is hardly possible. Especially if he is said to have really pushed such (similar) fragrances onto the market before the beginning of the 20th century. Then he would even be number one: carefree, practical, noble.

Flacon: classic barbershop looks
Sillage: noticeable, but not to be shortened
Durability: made to measure from the bar - 6-7 hours

Conclusion: for fans of Cool Water, GIT and Co., whose usual bottles are slowly emptying and who want to smell/act a bit more English - "Freshman Cologne" is a modern mossy debutant who doesn't have to hide from his clear cousins!

That I finally found you!
Maybe I belong by the sea in the north, not in the big city. I love the fresh breeze, as it is only there at the sea. Salty, algae, cool wind. Oxygen and minerals. When a breeze like this blows over me, I feel a bit happier, a bit stronger
That's why I like autumn so much, with its cool winds, which are not yet wintery, but also no longer summery. I also like a cool summer morning.

I love fragrances that carry me out of the Frankfurt climate to a place where the air is fresh and pure. "Himalaya" and above all "Green Irish Tweed" are my fragrances for the day. But only until late spring. As soon as the temperatures go towards 18, 20 degrees, both scents become too exhausting for me.

For years I've been looking for my freshness kick for warmer days. And for years one after the other every filling has migrated into my TZ container, is retrieved from time to time, only to be discarded again.

Maybe Annick Goutal's Vetiver could be something for me, I thought the other day, and ordered a bottling from my colleague Dannyboy. The bottling arrived, the scent was a little too earthy and not fresh enough for me, then I dedicated myself to the generous addition called "Freshman" from an English manufacturer called "Truefitt & Hill". Never heard of you.

So I sprayed the fresh guy on my hand and suddenly it clicked. The scent is like a cool, windy morning at the sea, without algae and brackish water, but with a mountain of citrus fruits, which in turn are rounded off by a hint of ylang-ylang. The whole thing is interspersed with a tiny hint of light musk.

The fragrance is round and harmonious, very refreshing and inspiring. Clear, cool and pure.

I've known the synthetic fragrance responsible for this for a long time. And I love him. In GIT, Himalaya, Pleasures for Men and many other expensive and also cheap scents and shower gels. But nowhere else is this cool, almost metallic freshness so staged as in Freshman.

I don't know how much of this scent is synthetic. One thing is clear: this fresh note cannot be made without synthetics. But I also think: without natural substances, this bitter synthetic cannot possibly become such a round, beautiful fragrance.

Durability and Sillage are quite good, and the bottle ... well, there are more beautiful, nobler, but it lies well in the hand and works similar to the fragrance: uncomplicated.

Dear Dannyboy, thank you for helping me make this find, which I would never have come across otherwise.

OFFER:
Truefitt & Hill offers eight men's fragrances and of course I am curious about the siblings of the little whirlwind. Therefore I ordered three sample packs with eight samples each of these fragrances in England (8x1.5ml). Costs: 39,- Euro, including 18 Euro transport. If you want to buy one of the packs for 13,- Euro, please contact me. Two pieces are available.

Starts EXACTLY like cool water, but with a more pleasant, barbershopy/clean dry down. Poor longevity. Suggest Aspen as a better alternative.
