Inexpensive version of a great classic
Ulric de Varen's fragrances are cheap drugstore scents, you normally find them on the bottom shelves. Current offerings from 2013 include a tuberose-scent ("Divine-issime") which I tried yesterday, but did not like because of the disgusting drydown (the topnotes were good, though). In 2008, Varens launched his best line ever which included a brilliant copy (if you can call a copy "brilliant") of "Feminité du Bois"!
"Oriental Night" was really cheap (FIVE Euros!)and I grabbed as many bottles as possible. Of course, you cannot expect such a copy to be made of top notch ingredients, it fades away quickly. Nevertheless "Oriental Night" was quite a discovery - and a bargain at this price. I can't tell if Pierre Boudon really was the perfumeur in charge here, if he was, then he should be ashamed of this blatant copy of one of the greatest perfumes ever ("Feminité du bois").
