...like warm apple pie!
*cough cough... The 90s teen comedy "American Pie" has quite obviously been the godfather for this perfume.

Well, whether and how you can now become intimate with a perfume / would like to be times put aside.
With the name-giving pie it worked in the film so semigut.

But now to the perfume:

Where, pray tell, is the apple in the fragrance pyramid?
This was my first reaction after the first spray, after I have read through this again here at parfumo.

I am literally screamed at by a deliciously sweet red apple in this perfume by Ulric de Varens.
And also quite authentic.
After spraying on, memories of Boss Bottled (Intense) are awakened.

No question, the Boss has created a cult perfume, an absolute evergreen.

From my point of view, however, nothing speaks against this classic times exchanged.

"Varens d'Orient Elixir" simply acts multilayered, without being overloaded.

This spice combination is animal fun.
It does not overwhelm one and the cardamom from Indian cuisine, which I love so much, comes (gently) to bear.

Everything is clearly defined and super coordinated. There are already some fragrances that put a scent mishmash in front of you, which you just can not klamüsern apart.

"Varens d'Orient Elixir" is really a highlight among the "minions".

Everyone who enjoys sweet-fruity & oriental fragrances, should give the perfume times a moment of his attention. Disappointed may be only the fewest.

Despite the warm seeming spices, the perfume also fits amazingly well in the summer.
It does not crush you, you yourself (and the environment) takes in the first line of the sweet apple with cardamom, as well as hardly perceive synthetics.
There is no trace of typical Christmas associated baked apple or the like, which one might think from the fragrance pyramid.

The durability, as well as the sillage are excellent.

In summary, this EdT reminds me of a deliciously spiced apple pie warm from the oven.

The price/performance ratio is fantastic.
The current rating (as of 09.2021) of 8.5 is completely justified.

I wish you a fragrant day :)

Oriental spice bomb with ingenious P/L ratio
The Elixir of Varens I discovered here while browsing the Varens fragrances, just like the "blue" brother d'Orient Nomad. I have already reviewed the latter, I like it very much. In this country, both fragrances are difficult to get. If you don't mind higher shipping costs, you can get them from abroad. I was lucky enough to get hold of both in a German online shop, for just 17€. Niche at a ridiculous price.

To the flacon I can report basically the same as with the Nomad. Red 100 ml bottle with golden inscription and chrome-like cap. Although I find the blue flanker somehow nicer, but is a matter of taste. Red is finally also not a repulsive color and also fits quite well to the Orient.

In the Elixir 8 ingredients were processed, 3 more than in the Nomad. But here too, quantity is not everything or not decisive for the war. Start does the Elixir with spicy-sweet cardamom, accompanied by citrus and spicy notes. Cinnamon is clearly noticeable here. The lemon peel goes perfectly with the spices and ensures that the sweet-spicy composition is not as oppressive as initially feared. Sure it's sweet, which is fitting for an Oriental. Cardamom and cinnamon dominate for a long time, the lemon ebbs away relatively quickly. Vetiver is only subtly perceptible. The fading lemon is replaced by some woods, which underlines the oriental character. With the woods, some amber also makes an appearance. In my opinion, all ingredients are weighted quite appropriately, only the lemon could have lingered longer in this chord.

The durability is more than decent with 8-9 hours, the sillage quite strong. Two, maximum three sprays should definitely be enough here. I find the Elixir can also be worn gladly by women. Seems to me rather unisex than masculine. In everyday life, I would not wear the rather, he is too special in my opinion. Best for going out, at (not only oriental) weddings or in the evening hours in the summer, when it gets cooler. There comes a flair of 1001 nights on. I can also imagine it as a good winter scent, because of the cinnamon note. Basically a very solid and attractive oriental fragrance from Varens. However, I still find the Nomad better. You should get both, the ladies can go for the Elixir. As mentioned, both are available for almost free, although not so often in Deztschland.

A fairy tale oriental
Super economic perfume, which smells and performs like one of five times its price.

It is a sweet and spicy oriental, with woody traces, that seems to be taken from the tales of the thousand and one nights. If it is packaged by any known Arab house, you simply believe it, because it has that stamp of orientalism typical of these houses, but with an important western imprint, the truth is that I loved it.

The inico is an addictive mixture of cinnamon with fresher and spicier notes, which makes it sweet, very sweet, but with beautiful and aromatic balsamic tones. Then, the perfume revolves around amber and woods, although it still maintains a small cinnamon tone, like a small residual imprint, that lasts the life of the perfume. There is not much evolution, but what there is is pretty and easily liked, and for how cheap it is, it is too good.

The performance is very good for what it costs, in my skin it has lasted more than 8 hours, and although the last ones were very close to skin, the overall performance has been quite remarkable. The trail in the first hour is very noticeable, but going from there, it remains moderate, that if we think about it, it is more than acceptable for the value of the perfume.

This perfume is night-time and very wintery, its warmth is beastly and it welcomes you, it is pleasant, so stay away from it in summer, although if you wear it on a cool night, perhaps you can also enjoy it, but be careful because it is sweet and stubborn hehehehe.

I recommend it without a doubt for all those who enjoy oriental sweets, and even blindly, since its cost does not exceed 10€, so the loss, in case you don't like it, is minimal.

Magical Orient at peanuts pricing
This Oriental Woody fragrance is polarized by a trio of spices, making way for a multifaceted intriguing masculine scent, and more complex than expected. On one side we have strong cinnamon, hot, sensuous and bitter-sweet. On the other side, we have a noticeable cardamom note, intensely sweet and resinous, evoking a smell of almonds and vanilla. A third spice, warm & sweet cloves, seems to rule the dispute held by the stronger spices.
Blended to this spicy antithesis we have a lemon note, sweet & sour, but quite zesty with a cheerful & vibrant behaviour, most certainly deriving from 'Citral A' essential oil.
The fragrance manly strength resides in the different woody notes, A smoky bitter chocolate vetiver and an austere cedarwood, reveal themselves progressively alongside the tarmac smoky facets of guaïac wood.
Behind this dance of notes, there is a back frame of amber and musk, and some light florals, that resemble woody carnation and smoky rose.
The fragrance is near-linear, although you do scent the zesty lemon and hot spices earlier than the woods.

Another finding that strikes me is that the ingredients seem to be of good quality as the annoyance of a synthetic smell almost does not exist. Performance is above average and not only if you compare this perfume with other inexpensive fragrances. It really outshines many spicy woody fragrances that cost six times more.
If I was not aware of the brand, I could easily place this fragrance in the niche line of Armaf, or even as another bold launching of Gucci following the marketing steps and quality of Gucci Guilty Absolute, but without being its flanker.

Varens d'Orient Elixir is quite alluring and will certainly attract a lot of compliments. I find it very pleasant to use it at leisure as well. As with any very aromatic-spicy woody fragrance, it's not advisable for hot weather or sporty events.
I am writing these lines seated on a couch near the fireplace with flutters of the fragrance dry down dancing around me. It's just very, very pleasant.

The truth about this Spicy Woody Oriental gem?

Opinion about Varens d'Orient Elixir:
We have a saying that can be translated as "When the alms are great, even the poor man suspects". I suspected this fragrance for a couple of days and finally had to be honest with myself and write this review. I tried to be as honest as possible, neither over-enthusiastic about an inexpensive hidden gem nor contemptuously over a cheapie. In summary, it's a remarkable fragrance using a sleazy bottle and with an unusually low price tag.
Recommended? Yes, due to its features and not only due to the low price.
Is blind buy worthy? Yes, as certainly you don't have any other way to try it unless a friend of yours purchased it before you.

I run into this surprising perfume by chance. I tried this oriental scent unwillingly among 10 new fragrances and it came out as the winner!
