Pear sublime
To me, the pear note is often a winner. Right now I own 29 scents with pear, not all of them with it as a dominating note, but a lot of them with it as adding a sweetness to the fragrance. A sweetness which is not cloying, but fresh and well balanced. This is also the thing with Rêve from Van Cleef & Arpels.
When spraying I can not help but thinking of Contradiction from Calvin Klein. The two scents share the subtle and fresh expression that makes them both really wearable for all kinds of occasions. They are inoffensive and soft, warm and smooth.
Rêve has a really delicate beginning - like walking in a garden a morning late in September and passing a pear tree. The fruits, not ripe to eat yet, but still sending out whiffs of sweet pear. Calm and reluctant. Then I start to get both lily and peony, the scent changing into a more common perfume. Not bad but not as interesting as before. The base is very subtle.
The bottle is as toned down as the scent. Very delicate.
