A Caron Narcisse Noir vibe ...
Recieved this 1oz boxed perfume in brand new, condition, still sealed in cellophane! The box is nothing fancy, a run-of-the-mill cardboard box imprinted w/black & white houndstooth pattern - EXACT SAME PATTERN as the Vintage Christian Dior houndstooth pattern used on their boxes & label backgrounds & on the Vintage crystal &/or glass molded bottles on various fragrances such as Miss Dior & Diorissimo.

Altho I HAVE over 1500 different fragrances, and of those, 85% or more are pre-1990 Vintages & extrait or parfum formulations, I am just NOT good @knowing or communicating specific notes in fragrances :( thus I rarely leave comments or reviews.
Seeing there ARE NONE for this fragrance, I figure anything I might have to say is better than ZILCH, eh? Being very familiar w/the frustration of coming up empty after looking for info on a vintage seen on a selling app, [ug] I am leaving this brief sharing so as to at least give SOME idea of the scent ;)
As I explained, my bottle is a brand new, neer open, plugged 1oz bottle that was never opened & still sealed in its factiry cellophane wrapper with a French import stamp and what appears 2B an older department store type $18 price sticker underneath the box. The plug in the bottle, under the cap was snug & needed tweezers to pull it out, lol
The scent now? IF you LIKE/ENJOY OLDER, VINTAGE FRAGRANCES (such as myself - I'm personally a HUGE Vintage Frag fan), then you might find this one 2B a hit out of the ballpark - as I certainly feel :-D
As I initially shared, I'm unable to recognize thus communicate on individual notes, per se. I'm MUCH better at putting a scent into a class or grouping of similar frags such as "Oriental", "Woodsy", "Chypre", "Green", "Citusy", "Floral", etc . .. (*apologies that's usually best I CAN do)
However, with THIS perfume, even THAT is difficult to do? Its DEFINITELY vintage smelling, if that makes sense, Beyond that? There IS a frag that IMMEDIATELY comes to mind after smelling this: Caron Narcisse Noir (Vintage)! Reason that scent came to mind so quickly is bcuz of all my frags to date, Caron Narcisse Noir happens 2B in MY TOP FIVE FAVORITE PERFUMES. In fact, I CURRENTLY OWN [no less than] five of the 2oz vessels & two 8oz flacons of pre-1940 Vintage Caron Narcisse Noir .... so am VERY familiar with the scent *wink*
This 1oz bottle of "3 Coins in the Fountain" perfume by Vivian DOES surprisingly have something in it that is reminiscent of Caron Narcisse Noir ? I'm NOT saying it smells exactly like nor is a dupe or substitute for NN now .... only that there IS a certain similarity ;) Its been 2hrs how, and as I smell my wrists again .... yep, it DEFINITELY speaks of NN to me! The scent is VERY waning 2hrs in & did not have much sillage to speak of anyway, & it may not last much longer at all even as a skin scent ON ME .... however, I must point out my skin EATS perfume as if never had a meal, lol. I say that insomuch as to express there are but a VERY VERY FEW perfumes which on me, give off a fraction of the sillage the same frag does on others & ON ME longevity of ANY kind is more of a mythical hoop dream :( Which is the foundational reason I own the numbers and volumes OF frags that I do! LOL If I find one I REALLY like .... and IF I CAN GET any amount of longevity past an hour or two? .... It's a given I'll end up GETTING at least a couple decent sized vessels of it .... even if that means hunting it for several years! Case in point: Caron Narcisse Noir ;)
Now, it's been 2hrs w/this "3 Coins in a Fountain" and whilst I cannot detect the scent as I sit here, if I smell my wrists deeply, there's still a hint of it remaining. Which means in all likelihood, most others can probably at least double that (?)
I cannot speak to average cost of the 1oz Vivian release I have aside from a quick scan of 1oz availabilities on Ebay right now, which is varied among sellers priced as low as $20.99 + shipping & up to $49.99 + shipping. I only paid $20 including shipping as a blind buy bcuz I also purchased 4 other VERY OLD vintage Caron perfumes from same seller: Pois de Senteur, En Avion, Narcisse Blanc & Tabac Blonde & so she took $20 off every vessel I purchased over 2. Still, if price were the $40 , I believe I would still consider this a fine purchase & deal.
Only time will tell if I'll he buying ANOTHER bottle? Will have 2C how I feel about it after a few more hearings by itself. Tonite tho? I'm VERY pleased with this as a blind buy !
Like vintages? If yes, then I can recommend w/out hesitation.
Happy Fragrance Hunting my fellow perfumistas ! May only abundances of joy and lovely frags be in all our futures & journeys ?
