One of the very best
Just look at that bottle. Such a simple design yet so elegant. A triumph of minimalism. Could be my mild OCD talking though.

Kipling opens with artemesia, carnation, and a touch of bergamot which tame the musk that immediately wants to make its presence known. Then carnation and pine are prominent until the dry-down when it becomes all about smoky leather, cedar, oakmoss, and musk. While these notes are quite typical for 80s masculine woody aromatics, this one stands out, not only because it is very well-balanced, but also because the mix of leather and musk here is simply beautiful.

Kipling provides an air of elegance and sophistication. It is not a powerhouse, but performs well.

Masculinity Level: The always quietly intense Morpheus in a leather trenchcoat.

Smoky, leathery masculine
Although tobacco is not listed as a note, I get a tobacco/leather vibe reminiscent of a somewhat better-behaved Yatagan. Very wearable for men, no doubt. As a woman, I might wear this layered with the jasmine from Donna Karan Essences.
