Ancient Egypt
Representing Aswan in a luxury way.

Chose Aswan over London because of the freshness it gives other than having oud in the dry down.
Considering having oud in many fragrances this was a better choice especially for nights in Spring or Autumn.

Aswan used to be a well known city for traders, hence the fruity vibe is given for that idea.

At the other side the leather on the dry down represents the dryness of the city because of the high heat.

A great and a high quality fragrance for sure.

The young London
"W I D I A N" in hieroglyphics adorns the beautiful Widian-typical bottle in a cartouche that was actually intended for ancient Egyptian royal names. Does this royal reference do justice to Aswan?
The fragrance starts off fresh and slightly green and is noticeably different from the better-known London. But it doesn't take long for the raspberry to make itself felt. It is fruity, sweet and loud, but also delicate and smooth at the same time.
I don't notice the leather note for a while, unlike the London. Only after a while does a leather base develop, which doesn't steal the show from the raspberry even after many hours.

The freshness and soft green notes make Aswan a fragrance that is more suitable for everyday wear, which is great for the colder and fresher months. I was still very aware of the fragrance after 10 hours - the raspberry was still very noticeable.
Aswan is probably a little too potent for the office, but can be used anywhere else.
It is younger, fresher and more casual than London, but less elegant.
But does that make it the king? - No, in my opinion he is too "inexperienced" for that.
As much as I like him, London is the king, but Aswan is the prince!

Simple is sometimes simply better
The Aswan... for some simply again the London, for others the somewhat finer, lighter London. For me, the parallels are also really apparent, yet it is for me a fragrance with a strong raison d'être.

About the fragrance : first time smelled 2 years ago, 5ml sample. The until today is not empty although I now own the bottle. Why? I found the simply so good that I wanted to pick him up. If it creates such a simple fragrance to be lifted, he must do his thing well or?

Well, after the purchase of the flacon I am to my buddy here and there also deals with fragrances or likes to smell times & gives his opinion when I buy me again soas expensive. Proudly I sprayed him the Aswan on & waited for his reaction & then got to hear what I did not want to hear: "in Douglas I also find something like that" Nothing against Douglas, but that's just not what I think of the fragrance. My buddy said it would be a fragrance you aufjedenfall know & that is not special. Jaaa, he has not reinvented the wheel. Raspberry & leather is known, I know! But the Aswan makes the thing for me somehow again so good that it is already unique for me. One knows the fragrance, but it is so finely composed & so round, it is just good! He also does not develop great, but I do not care with the. He does his thing very well and I stay with it!

So, reassured I say even after several weeks of wearing, he is for me so clean and well-made craftsmanship that the straightforward fruity leather combination does not get on my nerves. It's just nice every time to smell the. A simply good fragrance. Sure, still not the best I've ever smelled, but he does his job Damn good.

To H/S : the fragrance is not a breaker, none of the room directly fills. He is rather elegand & thereby aufjedenfall perceptible. If you have perceived him then you want to smell more! Hold he does anyway long on my skin & on my clothes anyway.

So, try it out, first with a sample & either you fall in love directly or it is not a special fragrance for you. These 2 sides there are in my opinion with this fragrance

If Widian London is too linear for you, but you still love the raspberry-leather combination, ASWAN is the answer! Completely underrated!
I would like to mention at the outset that I own both fragrances - the "Sapphire Collection - London | Widian / AJ Arabia" and the "Sapphire Collection - Aswan | Widian / AJ Arabia". IMPORTANT: I pay for my fragrances myself, accordingly very objective and neutral. Both fragrances I could now test over the last few weeks very extensively and I must admit; the Aswan and London are top fragrances from the house Widian. Since the fragrances are very independent, but still share a great common basis, I would like to focus more on the differences between the two in this article. About the brand itself I do not have to say much; who knows Widian, knows about the high quality; the DNA is unmistakable!

Now, where exactly are the parallels and differences between Aswan and London?

- The parallels are explained very quickly; namely in the drydown! While the London starts with the spicy-sweet raspberry-leather combo and very similar / linear decays, the Aswan develops into the exact same base from my point of view. Fine differences, but not perceptible to the "normalo". The tobacco, which is still additionally in the Aswan, is perceptible, but now not earth-shatteringly decisive in the perception.

- The differences lie in these two fragrances mainly in the opening; here the Aswan was added by the bergamot a clearly perceptible freshness, which makes this beautiful raspberry-leather combo really work again very special and gives the fragrance a certain depth and complexity. Already at the first spraying on comes to one not the "heavy" London DNA, but an extremely pleasant freshness, which also makes the fragrance far more suitable for everyday use, but somehow also very special, because there are very few fresh leather-raspberry fragrances. A really creative composition, and I have to say that the Aswan is unfortunately given far too little attention in view of how ingenious the fragrance actually is.

- The H/S in the Aswan is of course not as strong as in the London due to the additional added freshness, but you just have to expect that when you add citrus fragrance components; even if the drydown smells very similar. Is this a bad thing? No, absolutely not! Exactly that makes the Aswan also a great alternative for everyday life or for work, office etc.

Overall, you really have to note that the Aswan is unfortunately given far too little attention. This is really creative and relies on the successful building blocks of Widian London, but that's exactly why the fragrance could just unfortunately stand in the shadow of his big brother!

Ultra-sweet raspberry candy opening leads to a "smoothed out" suede/leather. Kind of boring and designer-y. Overpriced.
