Last try.
Now I have had all three fragrances under the nose. Meant are "Silver Mountain Water" by Creed, "Mefisto" by Xerjoff from the Casamorati collection and also the offshoot "Mefisto Gentiluomo". All three fragrances are enormously similar and I can subscribe to the fragrance twin statements like this. "Mefisto Gentiluomo" stands out, however, again a little from the conventional "Mefisto" and thus also from "Silver Mountain Water".

The prelude impresses with lemon and bergamot. Up to this point, everything smells like the well-known "Silver Mountain Water" DNA. A little later, however, the iris joins in, which gives that DNA a few rough edges, caused by a slightly cosmetic-scratchy, reminiscent of the iris in "L'Homme" by Prada undertone. Cedarwood also makes an appearance later, but remains rather in the background. Unfortunately, I don't smell any of the violet, which could have made THE difference to spice up the "Silver Mountain Water" "Mefisto" DNA, which I find yawningly boring. At least the bright iris prevents this musty musky undertone, which I heard with "Mefisto" or even the Creed and which bothered me enormously.

In the end, "Mefisto Gentiluomo" doesn't pick me up either. The basic DNA of the fragrance plays first fiddle and since I can not quite with the, neither iris nor cedar wood can help here. This fragrance also remains too boring for me, doesn't inspire me. Lovers of "Silver Mountain Water" or conventional "Mefisto", on the other hand, can grab heartily. They should find their grail here.

hipster problems in the barbershop.... ;)
ey all worn out hipsters of all ages
have a problem - the modern shock
there is from now on in the long run
not a single appointment - in your barbershop
middle class braces from dortmund & berlin
move your butt to the nearest online shop

and you look at yourself with pleasure
the full beard that stands at attention
beard oil pomade and the comb
but you want to smell like a man -
listen to dad - infatti - click here on casamoratti -
really isso - your new scent is called mefisto
gentiluomo - no problem - krichsu

ey what a coincidence he even wears a bow tie
but to all nipsters please make immediately a bend
we enjoy quality and you mental wars
there's no place for you here and hate in the cradle
;)

and there's the little blue wonder :)

yes you can not say anything else with such a presentation - once again all / very first cream on all design levels on the part of xerjoffs within their product line casamorati .

within this traditional and traditional italian recipes are interpreted in a contemporary way.
with mefisto gentiluomo we have it now with a luxurious fougere to do the quite clearly an extremely cultivated barbershopfeeling. it becomes refreshing, soapy, citric and then goes over in a fantastic irislastige florality up to an ambrierten light warmth provided with musk.
yes this sounds desirable and very masculine but please don't be constricted or fooled by the title or my text - i think this can definitely be enjoyed across genders.

it is generally my opinion that the deeper you go into the niche world of fragrances the more likely such boundaries simply dissolve.
and so also here! ;)

Fine unisex gentleman, no devil's stuff
He's titled "Gentiluomo", so gentleman.
This and the advertising text point to a clear male orientation, a classic (reinterpreted?) Cologne. Maybe a little towards the barbershop, with a soap? Nah, it's different,

For me he starts very fresh and citric and so he is characterized here at the moment. That's just the head. I don't really find him showery, for what I mean by shower gel scent there are notes missing somewhere, I can't describe that well.
In addition, very shortly after the citrus notes there are already quite a lot of flowers. First and foremost, I find him lavender-heavy. The floweriness is quite strong, but of the lighter variety. Nothing heavy but pompous, rather fresh flowers. Pleasant, but quite with a slightly feminine orientation, so I don't imagine a guy in 1888 who just got a fresh shave ;-)
After the flower shop has been ventilated a little, a soft, slightly woody base remains without a really dominant note. The three notes mentioned are quite successful and are well networked with each other. However, I claim that the iris also holds itself in the base, the softness has a powdery proportion which is not pure musk and it comes across clear (but not strong) a hint of lipstick vibe.

After the slightly stronger citrus/flower opening, the overall fragrance remains pleasantly soft. Some wood, some flower and some powder. No strong Sillage, something very close. A really nice feel-good scent that probably doesn't offend the environment either.
If you want something all day long, you have to spray it. After 4 hours at the latest it becomes very quiet. Even in the evening you can still sniff out leftovers on your wrist, but then you have to hold them to your nose.
From my point of view the fragrance is suitable for both sexes even if the name says otherwise.

Mefisto Gentilumano
Mephistopheles is never portrayed as Satan incarnate in Goethe's Faust, but takes on a human form - that of a spiritual scholar - and, indeed, initially that of a poodle. So appearances are deceptive and that is exactly a little the problem of Xerjoffs Mefisto (Gentiluomo) - the great contrast is missing and although I like the fragrance very well, I wish he had more edges and corners.

Because right from the start, it stands out for its texture, which can most readily be described as 'fluffy'. Instead of the sharpness that hesperides often bring, the bergamot and lemon here seem very gentle, combining immediately with some lavender, a clean, slightly powdery cloud of musk and the present violet. I rarely like the latter, but the symbiosis works well in Mefisto Gentiluomo. The beautiful top note also has a slightly aquatic-fresh facet, but this fades as it goes on. Instead, I then perceive more of the green side of the fragrance, which is also rather grassy-bright and does not drift into an herbaceous-tart direction. Rose, iris and amber are, in my opinion, not found again. Slightly woody nuances still flash out in the base, but great changes after the top note there is not with Mefisto Gentiluomo.

This version is like the original Mefisto perhaps to 90 percent - and thus also has similarities to Silver Mountain Water - but has just a few subtleties, through which the fragrance stands out and makes it more interesting for me. The different shades of blue in the bottles make it clear: the newer version simply seems brighter and more radiant. However, for me, there could have been some barbershop spiciness and/or a stronger, dry wood note in the base to create a more interesting contrast. But one makes it probably never Allen right, because that would probably disturb some again...

A devil's fragrance is Mefisto Gentiluomo so not at all, but a great companion for all walks of life and seasons, because not only in spring and summer he holds for a fresh scent well on the skin and especially on clothes. By the way, the name is also quite misleading, because I can imagine him well on each sex.

Silver Mountain Water visiting an Italian barbershop
Even though most of the fragrances from Xerjoff are less appealing to me because of their DNA, I have noticed this one, in addition to Nio, a very great citrus scent. While Nio didn't make it into my collection due to its steep price, I was able to purchase this one at a good discount price.

As the owner and lover of the Silver Mountain Water of Creed, which is compared to this scent here, just like its ancestor Mefisto, I want to venture a description of the flanker Gentiluomo.

If you want to depict the fragrance, imagine the following scenario: A respectable, well-dressed gentleman wears Silver Mountain Water and has his hair done by an Italian barber. The result is a powdery fragrance creation that bears some resemblance to barbershop fragrances, while still retaining the familiar silvery and clear DNA of the Creed classic.

A wonderful and high-quality fragrance, which leaves a beautiful, clean and bright musk on the skin, while I also want to recognize green nuances here. What I particularly like is the fact that bergamot and lemon play a rather subordinate role here. They give the fragrance a certain freshness, but do not result in the citrusy effervescence that is usually found in fragrances that have those components in the top note.

Even though the fragrance is quite linear and simple, its quality is, in my opinion, clearly noticeable. I would also like to give a positive assessment of the shelf life. The fragrance radiates noticeably during the first 4 hours, even for me as a wearer during this time. Even after a normal working day of 8 hours it does not want to disappear from my wrist, on my clothes it lasts for days.

Lovers of the above-mentioned Creed fragrance should take a closer look at this Xerjoff. If the original was too scratchy and metallic, you might like this powdery interpretation.

Fresh, floral, aquatic scent with a citrusy opening. The smooth, powdery lavender with iris remain until the drydown. Woody in the base.

Bright powdery floral-citrus. Very fresh and clean. Woody as it dries down. More floral than the original Mefisto but otherwise the same.
