a spicy-herbaceous way to the coast
Can777 had bottled me again and again his great, so very special scents. He knows quite well that I can not resist and he can lure me so on mysterious aberrations.
Only, unfortunately, I had forgotten about the bag with his flacons. Fie on me!

"Dhofar" from the Xerjoff Shooting-Stark-Collection is one of those fragrances that don't take that long to get used to. They are there, make themselves wide - always nicely lolled on the skin - and spread their aromas and their fabulous stories in a relaxed atmosphere: sit with me! So it was with "Dhofar" anyway!

We wanted to go to the coast, the cliffs that people here always talk about. There are supposed to be smugglers' trails and caves there. Surprises dwell there!
But first, the path leads slightly downhill through the typical weedy maquis: undergrowth, bushes, herbaceous medicinal and aromatic herbs and now and then a fruit tree or something prickly needle strives to the heights.
Accompanying the beaten path, basil, tartly fragrant at every touch and going into opposition; sage just as sensitive and combative, only more herbaceous and spicy, flirting with coriander. The path is still long, up there I first see the pines standing as coast guards.
But for this it smells but also decidedly strong after uncultivated, natural herbs.
Here nothing is "pampers", nothing in form cut or trimmed; at small branches and thorns still hang the hair of the goats, which roamed here recently.
The hesperid trees with their ripe, fragrant fruits stand loosely scattered; no order patronizes them; probably they once belonged to a small garden, a small croft. The orange blossoms in full bloom still bear witness to this, while the first fruits are already changing colour - round, light yellow and later well edible! Will we still harvest them?
Now they stand here and they all try to explain to us that they would be the Hesperides to a Chypre fragrance; we should only see; should give them the opportunity against ...
Oh, who wants to deprive them of the illusion? Here is nothing with it!
Different aromatic bay plants unfold, the space is there and so they enjoy the light and sun. This is not without smelling strong-spicy; a faint whiff of essential, strong Ölrm is in the summery warm air.
Old gnarled lavender bushes with fragrant foliage and flowers announce an abandoned farm garden. Not uncommon up here. I wonder what we'll find here?
Overgrown by grass/weeds everything is, but it also lives; it has nevertheless learned to assert its place.
Roses and garden carnations live here, slightly ragged, yet still beautiful in their naturalness. Their delicate fragrance floats above the rampant greenery that has now accompanied our path for some time.
Almost reaching the top of the cliff, the pine canopies already fragrant before our eyes, we take the last few feet of this trail under our feet.
Such green, spicy, woody and also balsamic scents we have encountered so far.
The pines on the cliff path give off the sun-drenched, somewhat tired scent of their needles, having been busy during the day providing fragrantly generous shade for the hikers up here. Below them, the sandy path, covered with pine needles of several generations, runs mysteriously rustling along the edge of the coast.
Here we are: above a small white beach, with several small caves opening up in the background; under the shady pine canopies and surrounded by the herbaceous, spicy scents of the maquis.
Herbal scent and flower garden, pine needles and sea breeze - a scenario conceived by good gods! Conceived to delight us!
Here is the first and ideal place for our picnic blanket: the bottle of wine, some cheese, tomatoes and olives we share, break the fresh bright bread. There is also a small stream full of fresh water nearby.
The bay opens wide beneath our gaze; below us, the roll and foam of the sea; farther away, a blue-gray expanse on which small white crests dance.
Even in the pines the cicadas sit, creating their own special evening mood.
Herbal scent and flower garden, pine needles and sea breeze - an impression of very special charm. XerJoff is called here the scent painter!
Unnoticed has accompanied us on our unconventional walk the classic fragrance base package. It means: without his input its just everything nothing.
Balsamic and creamy-white-warm develops vanilla scent; Aphrodite has also joined us secretly. She had enjoyed that we did not notice her.
Brown-golden patchouli threads ensnare the vanilla scent here: for a long time, both had been waiting for their sensual-scented union.
Sandalwood and labdanum added slightly resinous-animalic chords; this walk should not remain so completely passionless. After all, it is summer, the cicadas are making music, the senses have awakened and ... Meanwhile, the night and the flow of fragrance are too beautiful for that!
Surrounded by these sensual balsamic scents, we encounter again to the coast in front of us.
Wide embraced the bay, bright smoky caressing amber lights, a luminous pearl necklace like, form a rich golden conclusion.
Above a cove on the vibrant shore, amidst vibrant herbs, flowers and fruits in the background, we enjoy an ambergris fire in the distance, embellishing the moment.
It is the moment to enjoy freedom in its wide embrace.

"Dhofar" is located in a governorate in the south of Oman; the view from the leads into the desert!
Therefore, I could not take this name literally; I had to draw vast coastlines, spicy maquis, and pine-covered paths.
For all my love of the Orient, I still couldn't find the right approach.
One may forgive me at Xerjoff: Star-Dust "Dhofar" is so much more than just desert!
