Great scent, bad marketing
There is a weird disconnect between this fragrance and everything surrounding it, including the choice of collaborator, name, bottle, etc.

Groove Xcape (just typing that makes me feel silly, it sounds like a roller-coaster at Six Flags) is a dark, smoky, resinous-woody patchouli fragrance. It gives the impression of a dingy shop that sells energy crystals and tarot cards whose owners use a patchouli-scented incense stick to cover up the weed smell. It's actually not bad, but nothing about it makes sense.

What is Groove Xcape? Is it a groove-scape? Or Groove Escape? Max Casacci's track/EP that was released around the same time is called Urban Groove Scapes. Why is it not called that? Why does the bottle look like it contains an aquatic freshie? How does the dark resinous peppery patchouli represent the "sacredness of sound" or "explore the power of rhythm and scent, transporting the wearer to new, celestial heights"? It's as if they came up with a nice scent, and wanted to collaborate with Max Casacci, and just threw everything together without any care. The name is what throws me off the most. Imagine someone complimenting your scent and asking you what it's called, and you have to say "Groove Xcape." Really embarrassing.

Regardless, I think the scent is great and the rating for some reason is unfairly low on this site. Maybe it's people like me who were expecting something completely different, and confused by the name, bottle, or marketing.

What a bottle ..... why this fragrance ?
My love for Xerjoff is untouchable, I love this brand very much, but with some fragrances I really wonder why I am so stupid and blindly buy the fragrances based on the bottle without informing myself.

The fragrance ..... is not a perfume in my eyes, I only smell pepper. 2 sprays in the apartment were enough to only perceive a pepper smell for 12 hours, despite airing.
When I tried to fight it with 2-3 sprays of Alexandria2, I could still smell a pepper note.
The power of this perfume is very strong, more than 1 spray is probably not necessary, but the strong spicy/smoky scent must suit you, I definitely recommend testing this fragrance and not buying it blindly ;-)

The bottle is a smooth 11/10, beautiful ....
If I didn't have space problems, it would still be in my collection today because of the bottle

Pompous and powerful, yet calm and meaningful at the same time - a contradiction that the Groove Xcape gets to the heart of
Do you remember when you used to go to church with your family at Christmas? Grandpa had exactly this scent on him, a scent that smelled so noble, so calm and so profound. It's a time of year when the first snow has fallen. It is the time for a pompous calm. Does this sound contradictory? Well, it reflects Groove Xcape perfectly in my eyes.

To start with, no, the fragrance is not just for old people and no, I absolutely cannot understand the very mediocre reviews. Xerjoff Groove Xcape is supposedly deceptive in name, but it is a first-class representation of what it is supposed to be: a resinous incense fragrance which, in my opinion, is outstanding in this category.

As is typical for Xerjoff, Groove Xcape is a full fragrance in its sillage, which is still strongly perceptible even after a long time, but in no way disturbs, no, rather powerfully accompanies the experience. The lasting power is at least as long as a day: the perfume lasts an extremely long time and is still partly perceptible on my skin even after showering.

The fragrance opens very smoky and peppery, it almost stings a little in the nose. It is spicy, but not too spicy. This quickly subsides and a warm, very calm aura emerges, a warm resin carries the fine incense and an only slightly perceptible rose. It lies comfortably on the skin and spreads an almost sensual atmosphere. Groove Xcape is not suitable for a wild party night, but rather for a get-together in a chic bar, a jazz club or for occasions whose importance is emphasized by this perfume. In the dry-down, the fragrance still retains a strong incense component, but becomes more woody and the spicy notes fade.

Surprisingly nice and calm (after the initial blast fades a bit)
The opening hits you with a lot of pepper, closely followed by resin and frankincense. The pepper is very realistic and strong in the beginning, but after couple of minutes fades little by little and lets the other tones come out.
The mid is dominated by frankincense and resinous and ambery tones, the wood is also quite prominent, with some florals and spices in the back. The pepper never goes away completely though.
When I close my eyes and sniff this, I see an old castle library, with wooden shelves filled with books, dark portraits on the walls and comfy armchair or perhaps a cathedral, warm, sunlit, inviting for a contemplation.
The projection is medium, definitely not a room-filler. The longevity is 8+ hours on my skin, although it becomes rather faint after ~6 hours.
I can imagine, it is not going to be a favorite for everyone. And I see why others see this more fitting into Amouage line - it is however much more european in my opinion.
In any case, this is not a blind buy material, definitely try first.

Expandable fragrance
Xerjoff offers a lot of eye-catching fragrances. The Groove Xcape is definitely one of them.
Whether this is good or bad is for everyone to decide for themselves! At the beginning, I perceive a delicate and soft pepper note, which is accompanied by incense.
The incense is very strong at the beginning and flattens out over time, but for me it is the dominant note that really lingers until the end. It reminds me a little of attending Sunday mass.
This enormous presence unfortunately makes it too intrusive for me and unfortunately gives me a headache...
Nevertheless, I have to mention the longevity, which is definitely enormous here.
To summarize everything, the fragrance is unfortunately not an option for me, as I can't see a clear progression here.

Resin/amber dominated warm spicy scent w/ moderate incense & very mild rose. Smells more like an Amouage. Leans masculine, fall-winter.
