A Ghost in a Wishing-Well...
My title makes reference to a song from back in the day by Gordon Lightfoot (O.K., o.k....way. way back).
"If you could read my mind, Love,
what a tale my thoughts would tell...
Just like an old time movie,
about a ghost in a wishing-well.
In a castle dark, or a fortress strong,
with chains upon my feet, you know
that ghost is me..."
The house of Yosh is known for using lots of natural oils and organic essences to create unique, albeit solid projection fragrances with excellent sillage and just the right amount of modern eco-friendliness. Stargazer 7.71 is heady stuff! It totally maes me feel like a ghost. A very powerful and persistent energy source that hides in the shadows and spies benevolently on the living with great yearning for a corporal connection. Stargazer 7.71 knows what it wants...it wants you, it will console itself to stalking you while you sleep and watching you live your life to the fullest.
At first clean and effervescent the ginger note is spritely, almost carbonated. It is the Spring after a hard Winter; a spray of white and pale pink flowers, hangs around me- so beautiful that everyone who ever met me crowds around to weep momentarily. Then they remember that I am really still in the room looking over them and they chuckle at the ironic smile on my face. The image is a little morbid, but also hauntingly beautiful just like Stargazer 7.71.
Later about 2 hours later on my skin this is still quite solidly projecting about 0.5 meters and although it is sufficiently light and Springy for the 50 degree Spring day...I know that it is waiting for the evening so that it can lay it's final attempt at lusty seduction down on my nose. I shiver to think about it! There is a slight clinical-antiseptic clean note which makes this appropriate for daytime wear in the late Spring and Summer. But there is another side, that leaves a glorious trial of achingly beautiful Cala lilies on your night stand that beckon you to re-cooperate from your ailments and give you the strength to live the rest of your life with utter verve and joy! The middle is fresh, minty but there's a little seducer in there. Although tuberose is not listed this has that sort of big white flower allure that I associate with a spring Gardenia, jasmine or Tuberose scent. Who will enjoy this? all the Fracas and Black Gardenia Oil crowd. Also probably the "Child Oil" worshippers and the glowing brides who are floating down the aisles this spring on dreams of eternal love. What is the secret of the ghost in this wishing-well? She is not sweet at all she's just not a wall flower and she needs you to understand that although she's dressed in a slinky see-through beige toga dress...she got nothing on underneath...so get your defibrillator ready! I give this 8/10 for longevity, 6/10 for projection 9/10 for comic-tragedy and a 8/10 for haunting, sensuality. You must love crisp dry ginger to try this one...but it is worth it!
