The Gorgeous Juice from Heaven
I am the lucky owner of a 50ml bottle of The Gorgeous Juice from Heaven - aka Opium Secret de Parfum. I love the original Opium - a spicy and delicate classic from one of my favourite houses. So why bother making flankers, if the original is close to perfect? The answer is obvious: Opium SdP is the female version of the original, which in my world is a unisex. SdP has less notes than Opium (11 compared to 30 registered on Parfumo), so of course it is a different experience.
It starts soapy/creamy and very soft. This feeling continues for a long time - more than three to four hours. Then it turns slightly more spicy and the base notes show their faces. It has an amazing longevity and sillage is 'enters the room a minute before the person and stays in the room for a week'-ish. It has an overall feminie expression, perhaps even seductive in a passive way. The bottle is lovely.
If there was room for it in my top20, this would be an option.

Gone with the wind..
Opium Secret used to be a perfume that my mother wore far too rarely. I have the following associations with the fragrance.
With Opium Secret, the olfactory sensors dive into the abysses of the human soul and touch the deep psychological approach.
It is about a character who moves in the best circles of New York society and wears Opium Secret.
A mysterious person,
who is carried by a hypnotic scent into a scene that repeatedly blurs the boundaries between dream and reality. Illuminated with all the fears, desires and weaknesses, much disappears behind the aura of this fragrance in the usual mysterious symbolism, but the fragrance remains forever in memory.

Ok. It's really not that easy to describe, because with this fragrance a whole era has passed and people have also changed.

To me, it smells like a luxury hotel and red, precious woods. The dust from the heavy velvet curtains wafts in the air. It is a melancholy fragrance that makes you think.

Dark, Rich and Resinous
I definitely get the "cinnabar" vibe here. It's sweet, very balmy. Resinous. Incredibly intriguing to smell and wear. A lovely fragrance. Perfect on anyone "grown-up". Plus it's Yves Saint-Laurent, and a well worthy variation on the "Opium" name. Definitely recommended. Classy, mature and elegant.

Soft, Creamy and Gorgeous
For many years, I considered Opium (1977) as one of mom's scents: an oriental powerhouse that she overused and that I hated. But the older I've gotten, the more fragrances have descended into blend sameness, and the more Opium has seemed bold, original and gorgeous by comparison to the dreary rabble. Recently, I found a bottle of this concentration, Secret de Parfum, and love it is. The astringency of the mandarin and spices in the original softens here; the floracy amps up. The creaminess is off the charts. Highly recommended, if you can find it.
