Yves Saint Laurent is the House behind my all time love, Rive Gauche. If I were to pick one scent to bring with me to a desert island, it would be RG. YSL is also the House behind Opium, Champagne, Parisienne à l’Extrême, Manifesto d’Elixir, Paris… extremely wonderful and skillfully composed perfumes. Every one of them would make anyone famous. From the male range I can mention Kouros as a favourite but Y and Jazz are also milestones for the House (and for me).
My enthusiasm for YSL cannot be underestimated. I am a fan. All of these masterpieces…
And then there is Young Sexy Lovely… but not in my world. No.

Fruit-salads aren't sexy!

When a well-meaning shop-assistant tried to point out the assets of this fruity little number to me, I burst out into laughter. I'm neither young, nor sexy, and honestly, I don't want to be "lovely" either (and of course I am not, otherwise I would not rant against this stuff, would I?).
"Young,Sexy,Lovely" is a very common type of fruity-floral perfume, and I would be hard pressed, if I had to distinguish it from all his brothers and sisters on the playground.
Why does YOUNG and SEXY nearly "automatically" involve a fruity-floral note? Does the perfumer really think that cherry blossom, nashi, black-currant and mango are "sexy"? Yves Saint Laurent used to do unforgettable perfumes like "Y", "Opium" or the fantastic "Rive Gauche". But this "Young and Sexy thing" simply follows a popular trend in perfumery, thus failing to set any. Dismal.

YSL can do much better than this

Pretty and delicate, inoffensive yet unoriginal. I'm a little disappointed in Young Sexy Lovely. Yves Saint Laurent usually comes up with interesting and in some ways, unique fragrances. However, in this case, Yves Saint Laurent played it safe.

It is neither too fruity nor too flowery, it's a nice balance between the two. Young Sexy Lovely is yes, young and lovely, but definitely not sexy. Flirtatious maybe would have been a better choice.

The scent from the opening to the drydown is very soft and intimate. Pear, peach, cherry blossom, magnolia and musk are the most dominant notes to my nose when I smell this fragrance.

In my opinion, this would appeal to a relatively young audience, age 13-20. It's nice in a casual, everyday use, inoffensive sense.
