Nothing groundbreaking …
… but that doesn’t mean it’s terrible.

You can definitely tell it’s in the Y family. It’s not even close to being “intense”, but honestly that’s the biggest flaw I see in this one. Yes, you heard me right. The biggest flaw in this one is that they call it “intense”, when it’s not as strong as its older brother, the EDP.

I like it though. Is it worth $160? Not if you have any of its relatives. If you don’t have ANY of the predecessors, or you're an absolute fraghead who loves YSL, then grab it.

This one is like they made the EDP without the sweetness. Performance is about the same as the new EDT. 2-3ft bubble with a decent sillage trail that lingers well. Longevity is 6 hours on 5 sprays.

So/so release, but it still smells good. It’s just a variant of the line.

Familiar
Previous Y flankers have been alter egos of the original EDT, but Y EDP Intense seems to be an amplified revision of that release. Only greener, louder and matured. It's intense if compared to the original fragrance. I'm not able to grasp any sage like the Eau de Parfum (2nd release). The prominent notes appear to be bergamot, juniper and cedar. If you wait patiently, patchouli fades in gradually. In this moment, the fragrance feels complete. Ultimately Y EDP Intense is clean, safe and familiar.

Best Y - IMO
So I got Y Le Parfum three months ago and now got to my collection EDP Intense.

Let me say this, people sub 30 that love Y EDP are going to hate Y EDP Intense.
Y EDP Intense it's thought for a different market. A more aged market.
I almost stopped using EDP over the years (got it in 2019). With Le Parfum, I started using the line again as the sweetness was toned down and it isn't a "In your face" perfume, and now I'm loving even more this EDP Intense.
I like how EDP smells but, for me, it's just the perfume the kids going to a party use.
most likely EDP will go to the gifting list to my younger brother.

If you are over 30 and haven't smelled Y EDP Intense, I would recommend you to not take the critics on the perfume. Go try it. most likely you'll be surprised!

Yves Saint Boring
The fragrance is advertised by Yves Saint Laurent as follows: "EXTREMELY COOL, EXTRA-SENSUAL FRAGRANCE FOR EVEN MORE INTENSITY. THE NEW FRAGRANCE OF SELF-FULNESS." and at the latest when a fragrance is advertised by the manufacturer as particularly cool, you should become a little suspicious, after all, I'm no longer a primary school child who is impressed by such words.

The fragrance starts with a powerful freshness. Classic designer DNA that creates a "freshly showered" feeling with a slight tendency towards synthetics. However, I have smelled worse offshoots in the same direction, which is why I would describe the fragrance as completely unspectacular and okay, but that's all it is. Standard, 0815, loveless. And you can't say too much about it, because the only thing that happens as the fragrance progresses is that it completely forgets that the word "Intense" is still in the name.

What seems powerful at first loses its puff so quickly that it confirms another thing to me. Also be suspicious when formulations such as "Eau de Parfum Intense/Extreme" are used. In most cases, this is a cheap marketing gimmick, which is not reflected in the longevity and is a typical designer fragrance disease somewhere. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any niche fragrance that uses such words for its fragrance oil concentration. Which doesn't surprise me, as these fragrances also have a certain level and such words quickly come across as cheap. The sequence is actually clear: Edc > EdT > EdP > Parfum/Extrait de Parfum. A phrase like EdP Intense simply makes no sense to me and is just a cheap attempt to appeal to the masses. Because four sprays on the neck last two hours in self-perception with difficulty. That wouldn't even be enough for an Eau de Cologne "Intense", let alone an Eau de Parfum.

The bottle matches the "Freshy" DNA with its blue hue and the letter Y has been beautifully incorporated. Pretty much the best thing about the fragrance.

100ml currently cost almost exactly 100 euros. Better invest the money in a proper shower gel, with a little luck it will last even longer.

Unfortunately, the YSL fragrances I have tested so far have to be put in the drawer of loveless mass production and this fragrance is one of them. The only exception for me so far is Le Vestiaire - Tuxedo.

Horrible if you're unlucky
There are some fragrances that have an offputting note to some people.
I know I'm in the minority here, but that's just my experience.
This fragrance has quite a strong resinous note that doesn't bode well with me. It's like olibanum or elemi but much worse (I'm not opposed to the aforementioned). I'm getting a headache from this fragrance because of it.

Without that note it would be fine, but nothing ground breaking. It's like a slightly sweet woody aromatic. I actually quite like the woody and aromatic notes, but this one resin note I just cannot get past.

Too bad.

If “cash grab” had a smell, it would be this. Synthetic, uninspired, lazy, immature…and just straight up boring.

Fresh synthetic opening, citrus and sage. Sweet synthetic drydown, cedarwood and tonka bean. Synthetic and synthetic = synthetic.

Y with the generic factor to the max? Considering all flankers somewhat had their purpose this is just a boring version of the EdP, clear no

Smells very similar to the edp but less sweet and more mature. I‘d prefer the edp tbh.

Remove the sweetness from Y EDP. Add vetiver and patchouli. The result is Y EDP Intense; a bland & artificial fresh scent. Don't blind buy.
