Hang on... Unexpected creamy and gourmand Vetiver
If you are anything like me, oftentimes you go visiting the feminine area of a clothing store and plunge your nose into tons of graceful female fragrances, just because you are curious, just because you are looking for something different, or just for fun. It was no more than a few weeks ago that I stumbled into ZARA Vetiver Unexpected, an EDP that is part of the Naturals collection, and it was love at the first sight, or sniff. If you expect rooty and earthy vetiver, something reminiscent of "wet woods", such as in Guerlain Vetiver, Malizia Vetiver, Lalique Encre Noir, or Cacharel pour Homme, then you might be disappointed since the interpretation here is the unexpected creamy, nutty, and gourmand Haitian Vetiver, something that does not have the smoky accent and resembles Yves Rocher Cuir & Vetiver.
It's a light daily fragrance that stands out among all shaving-cream notes that usually surround you in an office environment and bore you to death. It doesn't smell as cheap as it's price tag suggest. Well, it's an aroma highlighted by a bouquet of fragrant fruity, aromatic and woody scented tones that will bring an appetizing, mouthwatering and pleasing perfumed sensation.
Examining it closer once applied you will notice a lingering quality of softer earthy, fresh and dry hints that hide an essence of optimistic, natural and fresh feelings. To begin with, it opens with a blast of fruity notes containing freshly cut apples, which seems to be spritzed with lemon juice, yet that is the initial aroma of the Haitian vetiver. I am surmising it being that the Haitian vetiver as the leading note has bright woody and slightly citrusy facets, which are characteristic of that type vetiver, it reminds lemon or grapefruit citrus fruits.
The heart follows with a gentle and creamy, almondy trail and the woody softness of cashmere. Frequently called blonde woods, the cashmere releases an addicting aroma that accompanies you for several hours.
In the drydown the scent does not change too much, it remains smooth, close to the skin, creamy as if sandalwood were present in the base. The vetiver, which provided the fresh, citrus, and woody note in the opening, now warms up more and more and gives the fragrance a sort of sweetness, so delicious.
Sillage and longevity won't intrude anybody's space, it's just a light creamy interesting scent that can't offend anyone but will be noticed. It is really genderless, both women and men could wear it without any doubt and I am sure they will appreciate it. Given all the gentleness it has inside, I would recommend to wear it during the cool/warm seasons, spring months are ideal but even fall days might work well. Hint: spray and let it dry a bit, like 5 min or so to be able to appreciate it fully.
