The Cheap Thrills Smell of the Little Nugget
I blind bought W/End till 12:00 AM in a bundle with W/End till 3:00 AM for less than ten bucks while ago. Once at home, to my surprise, I realized that the scent was uncannily similar to another Zara cologne I already had in my collection: Zara 7.0. Nothing to care about, given that I like the cheap thrills smell of the little nugget 7.0, a supremely aromatic woody fougére style fragrance that could happily grace any niche perfume lover's shelf. Yet, the exciting part of those two scents is that they are supposedly knockoffs of other two designer brands: Éclat d'Arpège pour Homme and Burberry for Men. Despite the difference in the listed ingredients, though all of the four different bottles smell alike, two are cheaper, and two are more expensive.
By the way, what does W/End till 12:00 AM smell like? The opening is very minty and refreshing, and I get citrus tart mandarin blended with minty cardamom. I love that aroma, the zesty notes smell like a natural citrus juice or peel, which is perfect for summer, so bright with a bit of cardamom that adds green tones to it.
Heart notes are more aromatic and floral, and you get the middle notes after nearly an hour, or so the scent is on your skin. The leading violet leaves make the smell a bit watery, yet not salty or metallic, and the jasmine creates the juxtaposition to the lavender, suggesting a bittersweet accord. The middle part is dry, and with dry, I mean anything like the smell of the paper, still fresh, and a sort of ozonic, revealing an energizing redolence.
And then comes the base, a classic blend of woodiness and muskiness, sweet blue cedar, and mild white musk. The combination of violet leaves, musk, and citrus creates that briny accord, which has a sense of comfort and sensuality. Just for a moment, think about a guy with the sweetest smelling sweat, nothing pungent, rank, or disgusting. It's a clean sweat that has dried for just a few minutes. This scent comes off as a muted metrosexual if ever there is one.
W/End till 12:00 AM was a surprise hit for me. It lasts longer than most summery scents, has a very decent projection, and a very modern violet-mandarin-musk blend with neither standing out too much. A hint of cedar freshness gives it the masculine moniker, yet it could be a unisex scent as well. I classified this one as woody aromatic and citrus scent perfect for summer, you'd wear it during the day, even on a workday and not just during the w/end.
