Like a Romantic Comedy Movie
ZARA Coral Cassis, which belongs to the new "Shades of Collection" 2020, is labelled as intense and radiant. The official ZARA site reports three main notes, precisely Blackcurrant, Peony, Peach, yet the sticker that is sealing the box mentions quite different notes, such as Cassis, Jasmine, and Musk. Notwithstanding, the resulting five notes are all detectable in the fragrance development. The paper strip smells like soft roses and jasmine, slightly powdered, ultra musky, on the feminine side, and smooth. The citrus is there, the peach and the blackcurrant is there, the musky side, with just a dirty touch also. Right of the bat, it reminds me of the light satin petticoat, the soft duvet with its cloud of face powder. So keep on reading if you would like to know more about it.

Coral Cassis's bottle is the same as its siblings Cotton Kiss, Santal Glow, and Mimosa Cloud, box and bottle come in peach pinks colour, and the liquid is all about blooms, here smelling as luscious and opulent as they are, fragrant and carnal. I cherish the smell of the peony, also known as "the rose without thorns," which is a voluptuous, particular, but above all ephemeral flower, blossoms only once a year baffling. This makes it so fascinating and timeless, and that gives the fragrance a genuinely unexplainable magnetic aura. To provide you with an idea, Cotton Kiss is the same ballpark as Peony Blossom by La Perla.

It embraces me with amusement of sweet fruity and floral accord, the most sophisticated and elegant notes of blackcurrant, or cassis, are noticeable as a creamy sorbet. The opening features even a juicy, sweet, and soft peach. Among the fruity top notes, the briskness of the succulent white peach stands out, but it is not alone: fresh and structured, the blackberry is diluted in the elegance of the heart's blossoms.
It is an excellent opening for sure, and I was a bit surprised by the bubble gum I got in the first couple of minutes after I sprayed it on my hand.

In the heart, there is a fragrant bouquet that consists of peony, violet, and jasmine. The peony peeps, the undisputed star of this fragrance, with a soul radiant and ethereal at the same time, give way to the sensuality of jasmine blossom and violet with soft tones and a chypre redolence. Once the peony comes through, it is like a shower of powdery snowflakes, and a pure softness is created. The violet is dusty, from the feeble flower's petals, not as green and pungent as from the leaves. The trained nose will catch a pinch or rose, with its warm and bright shades, but it is not dominant, so do not expect a metal content because it does not exist in this fragrance. The middle stage is all too floral, sweet floral, it is indisputable.

As time goes by, a musky accord is what remains in the dry down, with the irresistible sweetness of the synthetic white musk. Another aspect that did not reveal before is the soapy facet, which comes right after the heart from the mixture of peach and peony, leaving the sweetened smell in the first part of the tale and keeping the most curious to reveal its end. The clean white musk is not typical of garments that have just been washed and hung out to dry, but here it is littered with hints of patchouli, almost imperceptible.

Coral Cassis is, in my opinion, one of the most sensual fragrances proposed in this "Shades of Collection 2020", very sweet but not at all cloying. It is like a romantic comedy movie - a lot of people criticize, they say the story is the same, but the tickets are always sold out. Coral Cassis behaves like a fruity-floral-musky perfume, with very bright jasmine, which acts as a link between the initial and final parts of the olfactory pyramid. It offers its fresh and dusty nuances, which become more evident during evolution. I would recommend it for the Spring and Fall days, but especially for the Summer evening, to have that extra touch and wrap the air and the senses of an entrancing perfume.

This review is based upon a 100 ml (3.4 FL oz) bottle I own since July 2020.
