The Fragrant Side Of A Sponge Orange Cake
Here I am describing yet another Vibrant Leather Eau de Toilette flanker, released together with Platinum. I start by saying that, after having tested the fragrance, I have not found a sense in the term Metal of this fragrance. No note, chord, or nuance is in any way reminiscent of metal. Besides, this time I did not catch any vibe from the OG. Having said that, let's see together what sensations are hidden behind this perfume.
Vibrant Leather Metal reveals itself with a cascade of sweetish citrus juice. The presence of lemon and bergamot is unquestionably present, but what dominates above all is the aroma of orange juice, a cross between a mandarin and mandarin orange. It’s a sweet, ripe citrus, like the one you get in sodas like Oran-soda, Fanta, Pfanner, and Minute Maid, just to name a few. The opening has so much sweetness as if Daphné Bugey added an extra sugariness to the citrus juice. And I bet there’s a slight hint of pink pepper in the mix because I get a sort of hot peppery spice with that signature pink berry undertone. It is so savoury, like an orange sponge cake full of orange zest and juice. If I close my eyes, I imagine it in front of me, so soft, moist, and fragrant. The opening is very, very, very pleasant.
The orange facet fades after a few minutes, without ever disappearing completely, and a soapy, powdery, creamy accord is created. I take a bouquet of roses and irises. Imagine a bowl of orange juice with floating rose and iris petals. This dusty and dewy aroma almost certainly accompanies nocturnal jasmine. The sour and floral accord blends with warm spices, cinnamon I particularly like. I also notice the pungent notes of ginger. What Vibrant Leather Metal offers me is a warm and reassuring heart.
The vibrant Leather Metal approaches the final stage with a creamy woodiness. Sweet tones of tonka emerge from the skin, along with creamy sandalwood and warm spices. It is a light and blonde woody base that makes up this fragrance. In all phases, a soft sweetness reigns, never cloying, always flanked by orange notes. The perceived sense of cleanliness makes me guess there is also a crumb of clean white musk without any animalic note.
Just like the name says, this fragrance is vibrant but with a warm heart, thanks to its long persistence that makes it stay on the skin for over half a day and on clothes for a whole day. It is a spicy and aromatic fragrance that stands out for its citrus characteristics of oranges and the creamy side of the wood. I like to wear it during the in-between seasons, spring but especially autumn. It has that right warmth for these seasons and is ideal for the day, even at work, given its delicacy.
I’m basing my feelings and review on a bottle I’ve owned since September 2020.
