Os Iris
At Requiem I expected, by name, an incense scent. Maybe that's why I skipped this scent for testing so far.
But Requiem - fortunately - has little in common olfactorily with a Catholic mass for the dead and a sacred overdose of incense. The fragrance starts with a light citric note of juniper and above all a good portion of ginger. It was the juniper that was used by Egyptian priests in the rites for embalming. Here the scent may also build bridges through time.
The sharpness of the ginger is very quickly bound by the softness of the iris and results in a powdery freshness in the heart of the fragrance.
Essentially, there are now only subtle, smoky-woody chords added, which also act very reservedly. Oudh I wouldn't have directly smelled or suspected out of here.
So Requiem stays - to my delight - very far away from a swinging-steamy incense barrel and finds itself as a powdery-spicy scent, with a reduced sillage, but a good 8 hours shelf life.
