An unknown classic
Uncommented fragrances No. 157

Always looking for classics, I became aware of Zuma's Colonia Zagara, which is already produced in Sicily in 1943.
Orange blossom is occasionally too sweet and opulent for me, but if the fresh, sparkling neroli parts are big enough, it can become a very fine, summery, bright composition. So here!

First the fragrance starts with hesperidian tones: bergamot, lemon, green and sour. Then the sweet, warm and soft orange blossom picks up speed, but is immediately taken to the reins by the tart, fresh neroli accents. On skin the orange blossom tones dominate a little more, on textile and paper the neroli notes a little more.
In the course of the fragrance development, fresh herbaceous tones can still be perceived underground. The fragrance then fades away after a few hours, but can still be perceived as an aura.

Zuma is apparently a smaller Sicilian brand with a longer tradition. As far as I know, Colonia Zagara is the oldest fragrance of the brand and is still produced today alongside various Colonie. In addition, the brand has recently launched a number of new fragrances, which, in keeping with the climate in Sicily, have more summery, fresh, light notes.

I ordered directly from the company. The shipping was uncomplicated and fast, not too expensive for Italian standards; the prices of the fragrances are moderate and certainly worth a test.
