smell it like a girl
I've been interested in the boysmells brand for a while, but until recently it wasn't available in Germany. So I'm all the more pleased to be writing my first review here.
First of all: I decided to blindbuy Cashmere Kush because I liked the pyramid the best. Delivered today by niche Beauty, I hold a natural-colored, simple but super beautiful and high-quality box in my hand on which the pyramid is listed again on the side. After opening it, I'm almost shocked by the beauty of the bottle, which doesn't come across at all in the pictures and is quite unjustifiably rated quite poorly here. The only way I can explain this is that no one has actually held it in their hands.
Sprayed into the crook of my arm, a strong hemp blossom rises up towards me. Let's not kid ourselves, a fragrance that's titled Kush has to smell like Kush, but this hemp flower is not scratchy and certainly not smoky grass, more of a "oh there must be a hemp plantation around here somewhere, let's have a look" vacation memory.
Aldehyde and ambroxan probably help to make the flower and the pepper that follows it softer and almost cuddly. Not at all chemical or artificial. Pepper, although only listed in the base, is the next thing I notice. I really like pepper in fragrances, and I'm also a big advocate of Élixir de Bombe by 2787, where many people find the pepper note too strong. Here, unlike in the elixir, it is not a sweet pepper but one that embraces the - and here it comes - heliotrope and creates a perfect symbiosis.
In the meantime, the kush has faded into the background but is still there. Musk and cashmere wood then slowly make the fragrance cuddly and fluffy, cozy, special, calming. I can't detect any rhubarb here.
Now it gets more floral. I'm not the biggest floral fan, especially when it comes to white flowers. But I love iris. Iris somehow drives me crazy, if someone is wearing iris next to me I won't leave their side and I can become a bit distant so I can't smell them. And this iris is so beautiful! Slightly powdery, not extremely strong but there if you get close enough. There when you are close to someone. Tulip and vétiver have become secondary for me at this moment, I can't really detect them either.
Cashmere Kush, a really exceptionally beautiful work, not too intrusive, for cuddling, for being close. It definitely deserves some hype because of its appearance and beauty. Maybe it will come.
