A disturbing and intense fragrance, especially at the beginning
Many thanks to Nick for the bottling of Oud Sultani Terengganu :-) Now that's a really crass, animalic fragrance. The opening is almost disturbing and almost unbeatable in terms of animalism. In the end, I don't think it's so bad, but you have to "endure" it for a certain amount of time. The film of oil on my skin is quite extreme and you probably shouldn't spray it on light-colored clothing. To my surprise, the longevity of around 6 hours is not even that great. But the sillage really pops, especially at the beginning.
The top note is strong. Bibergeil makes for a disturbing animalic scent. It also smells a little of berries and fizzy drinks. The heart note continues to smell very animalistic and somewhat stalky thanks to oud. After that, it gets much better, at least for me. Indian nard brings earthy, spicy aromas to the fragrance. This is followed by a floral scent of rose water and jasmine blossom. The base smells a little green like violet leaves on the one hand, but also vanilla-like and balsamic like ambergris with a hint of orris roots on the other. Musk underpins these animal-animal notes.
I haven't really warmed up to these "extreme fragrances" yet. But I understand if you fall for it. At least the village cats are now likely to "meow" after me...
