So close to perfection I regret not grabbing a second bottle while I had the chance.
How often do you come across a warm weather scent that leaves a lasting impression? I would argue not very often. Many citrus forward fragrances don't have much going on for them in the way of uniqueness and especially strength to keep pushing through the summer heat. You get that in spades with By the Yuzu Grove.

Yuzu is one of my favorite notes period and I think it is done beautifully here. It's very realistic, sharp, bright and even dry in all the right ways. The woody backbone is noticeable early on and helps give the scent a nice foundation from the start. You might be hard pressed to detect all the notes because they each seem to have an appropriate place within the composition. Is this extremely complex? Absolutely not, and usually, for the price, you do expect more. However, occasionally you run into something that smells so good right off the bat that it doesn't matter. This is an effortless wear suitable for any outdoor situation.

If you're going to be indoors though I would say to be mindful of overspraying because projection is substantial. For reference, I was stopped at a drive thru and after lowering my window the person working said he could smell me as I pulled up and thought it was his boss. He thought it smelled nice and caught him off guard. I also had a coworker comment on how great it smelled from like 7 feet away. I very rarely get any feedback from my fragrances, nor do I expect any or care to receive it and yet this stuff captured people's attention. The oil concentration of this is extrait so I suppose it's not a total shocker it performs well.

After sampling the whole line I was fixated on picking this one up in particular and grabbed it half off during a sale. It was a no brainer and I am scoring it a 9 based off the reduced price I paid. Had I shelled out the $220 or so price I would have knocked off a point or two here. Would I have paid full retail? Eh, probably not because I wasn't confident in its performance from the sample's weak atomizer. But I'll say this, it competes with the offerings of houses like Profumum Roma and those go for nearly $300.

Good all-occasions yuzu
A blast of citrus with fresh spices and woods in the opening. Smells like an even lemon-yuzu split with a tinge of orange, and it's very smooth and refreshing almost like an iced glass of juice. Less "By the Yuzu Grove" and more "Freshly Squeezed from the Yuzu Grove." Ginger lends it a fizzy pop from the skin, but without the same bubbly intensity as a carbonated beverage, while the frankincense adds a touch of non-citric fruitiness all over a light woody base. Moderate initial projection fades over 2-3hr, longevity 10-12hr.

A Great Summer Addition
I will do a quick TLDR at the top of the review instead of summarizing at the end. If you like Dior Homme Cologne but hate the longevity. Get this fragrance.

Now more of a in depth. This is a great piercing lemony fragrance with wood base that gives it some more depth. I get a straight resemblance to Dior Homme Cologne with the bursting fresh lemons. It is as if you shaved off the lemon zest, it is great. Even though I tested this during the winter, it was able to project quite decently and lasted all day long on my skin. I can only imagine how the heat will bring out the notes.

The blending on this fragrance, like the rest of the opening line for Galleria Parfums, is great. But with that excellent blending, it is very linear on my nose but that is probably just due to the fact that the lemon is very pungent and in your face.

Its hard to wrap a comparative fragrance but Id say a mix between Artisan Pure and Dior Homme Cologne with more of an edge. I can see this as an easy addition to any summer rotation.

Semi-tart and interesting citrus-led blend, apt for summer
This morning is my final sampling of the first collection of seven from Galleria Parfums, curated by Ashton of Gents Scents, and certainly the most apt for warm weather, By the Yuzu Grove, a fittingly citrus-focused creation that’s fresh, yet dry and tart, containing the eponymous yuzu (a citrus of eastern Asian origin, albeit cultivated elsewhere), mixed with ginger, pepper, resins, spices, vetiver, and woods.

It’s well-blended in that the citrus opening, while intense and tart, does gradually give way to a more varied mix has spicy, herbal, and woody touches. Overall, it’s very agreeable and easy to wear, predictably not as strong a performer as the other six entries that are more year-round or cold-weather-friendly, so it’s a little bit more difficult of a sell at the full retail pricing of $205 for 100ml, but this is still reasonable enough overall.

I blind bought all 7 of Galleria fragrances. This is my 4th review. This was my New Year s.o.t.d. this was the scent I was most excited to take for a run and it didn't disappoint. Up top you have this green citrus with a slight gin like note. Citrus heavy but more of a lemon rind /unripe mandarine with a little green on the skin. In the mid , the green goes away and you have a fresh lemon which sits close to the skin hours on end. It's a deeper Artisan pure with green touches. not ground breaking but man it's good. This will be in rotation spring and summer. If you like artisan pure or Dior homme Cologne than blind buy away. I can see this being a dumb reach in spring especially with that greener fresh opening.

"Freshly squeezed from the yuzu grove." A smooth, refreshing blend of lemon, yuzu, and a touch of orange with fresh spices and a woody base.
