Sweet floral Goutal
Very fresh, sweet and floral, with a hint of citrus on my skin, I love the dry down of this perfume, feels very old fashioned and beautiful.
This one is a first, and blind purchase from Annick Goutal, and I must say I have to try more. they are definetly unique, and dont have that "modern" sharp soapy smell drying down.
For me Un Matin d'Orage is a very floral perfume, although the top notes are definetly green and somewhat citrusy. When I first smelled it, I wasn't sure it's my cup of tea, I really wanted a white floral scent, but wasn't expecting it to be so strong. But, after a few uses I grew to love this one, escpesially in cold winter for some reason, the sweetness is much more pleasant, just like with ice cream...
On me it dries down floraly sweet, almost into a candy like scent, with secondary citrucy notes in the air, and after a few uses i couldn't get enough of it. That being said it's definetly a cold weather scent for me, in summer it can be overwhelming.
I would recommend it for sweet perfume lovers, who really enjoy floral smells.
The sillage is moderate, on myself I can feel its scent throughout the day, and after a night of sleep it can still linger, but people around you won't smell it strongly if at all after a few hours.
Overall I was pleasantly pleased with this brand, and with my blind purchase, and will definitely explore more of it. Great floral scent.

Vanilla weather
Full of enthusiasm I discovered the Eau de Toilette (!) yesterday in a perfumery. What a subtle, gentle scent. I can only agree with the comments on the EdT: mood and smells after a thunderstorm in the morning were probably never captured in a more successful olfactory way. It's all there, the freshness, the slightly musty-modgy, the feeling of relief and new beginnings, of cleansing and short moments of pausing, immediately sprouting leaves and flowers, steaming asphalt. The scent lies we a light cloud around the skin. As if you were rain and air at the same time.

Unfortunately only the Eau de Parfum was available in a smaller unit. And then I foolishly acquired that without testing (here the tester was missing...). At home I sprayed it on full of expectation, again ready for this thunderstorm miracle. Hm, it was immediately clear that the EDP is clearly different. Louder, more flowery, a little more synthetic at the beginning, far less pastel, although the basic tone of the fragrance is recognizably the same. That would even be pretty nice...wouldn't be there...yeah, wouldn't be there the vanilla...I just don't like vanilla in perfumes. And here it doesn't take long, and she is omnipresent until the end (with me about 6 to 8 hours later). Even if it is a very spicy, unsweet, elegant vanilla, unfortunately I have to part with it again...

The EdP is undoubtedly very high quality and interesting. A must for all vamilla lovers, more beautiful than vanilla galante, for example. My recommendation to test both the EdT and EdP thoroughly before considering a purchase.

Comparison between EDT & EDP
I was able to compare both the EDT and the latest EDP of Un Matin d'Orage side by side. These two concentrations are pretty similar in the opening: creamy dewy gardenia. The EDP feels a bit more intense and sweeter, but only slightly.

The major difference is in the drydown. The gardenia in the EDT gradually mellows into a soapy green ambiance, while in the EDP, it insteand becomes more luscious. The gardenia note in the EDP is still pretty similar to that in the EDT, but the tuberose nuance is also more detectable. Although I can't really discern amber, myrrh and vanilla, but they certainly add more heft to the gardenia. I would say the EDP is one step closer to those big florals from the same house, such as Songes and Passion, than the EDT.

On me, the gardenia in EDT gets lost in the green elements after about 4 to 5 hours, but in EDP it's more present even after 7 hours and the total longevity is almost 12 hours. The sillage of EDP is also moderate to heavy, espacially during the first 2 hours.

Personally, I still find the EDT suits best 'a stormy morning' with its brilliant dewy green elements accompanying the creamy gardenia, but its performance and the elusive gardenia do leave me desiring something more. If you happen to have similar feeling towards the EDT, you may want to try the lastest EDP version of Un Matin d'Orage.
