Spicy, slightly animalic beast
Inlandish is, to date, easily the spiciest fragrance in the Happyland catalogue, a blend characterized by mixed spices and animalic notes, with a red peppery aspect despite not having red pepper in the listed notes, which include sandalwood, oud, leather, eucalyptus, tobacco, cardamom, birch, herbal notes, patchouli, cannabis terpenes, and mate per the website. It’s super strong and a bit sharp in the opening but dries down gradually, still maintaining the same balance, but less sharpness. It’s an intense experience, a bit spicier than what I typically gravitate toward, but I cannot deny that it is nonetheless an elegantly-put-together composition.
I predominantly get a red pepper note with leather, oud, birch, and slightly green herbal notes. It has a brightness and freshness to it, so it’s not a dark fragrance per se, even though the brightness and freshness are largely overshadowed by the spice blend. It surely needs to be tried to be understood and appreciated (and, of course, to determine if it’s a good fit). I believe its concentration is very high and its pricing very reasonable, the standard $55/42 for 50/30ml, simply outstanding in today’s market. Unsurprisingly it performs extremely well, even within a catalogue with generally very-high-performing fragrances.
